Chaotic Worm

Had a lot of fun with this one! A random Mick Gordon clip sparked a little riff in my head, so I set out to build a guitar-like sound on the M8. NXT works perfect for writing doubled guitars, with left and right parts neatly sync'ed, while also having their respective pitch and character slightly randomised. Most of the track came together around the main riff. Aimed for that modern metal sound and arrangement in drums and bass. The rest of the track naturally grew from there.

Kick, snare, crashes and a riser are from Oversampled Cyberpack 2077. All other sounds were tailor made from scratch on M8. Little bit of extra sausage mastering in Logic as usual.

Rip & tear into the M8 bundle

To all the commenters: my apologies for being so quiet this week. Work and life stuff had me swamped. I read your kind words and I feel bad that I haven't had time to listen to more WB submissions this past week. heart

This is the second killer doom-esque track I've heard made on the m8, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice! tongue

This is so good though, dude. Love that snare at ~1:20, too. Great job! heart

Getting my shotgun now. I'm muting doom music and trying this. Props!!  smile))

Mick Gordon got an M8? crazy

You fucking killed it this week. Holy moly that snare is going to give me an aneurysm.

Can't stop headbanging with this track

Killed it and maimed the remains! This was heavy AF!

Dope track, instant favorite. Great timbre evolution of the main bassline, like it always felt fresh, while still being a perfect through line anchor.

Look ma, no guitars! Damn fine.

That was a blast! Everything is so perfectly balanced as well. Nice job!

Amazing work!

Dang this goes hard af

this is fire!!!

Certified banger. This hits hard!

Thank you heart Yeah I remember hearing some kick-ass metal like tunes back when I first got into M8. Outside of getting realistic sounding guitars M8 is actually pretty well suited for that kind of hyper modern cyberpunk style of production. We need more M8 metal for sure!

Please don't sue me for your medical bills wink The snare sample was already really good by itself, I just pitched it up and added even more distortion for that thick PZFFF heart

Cheers heart I was kind of worried it could get stale because it's basically the same riff the whole way through. Glad to hear all the production trickery worked to keep it entertaining.

But we've got guitars at home! Thank you heart

Thanks a lot! I've been speedrunning my WB tracks in the last few hours before the deadline, so getting a proper mix/master at half past 12 at night, directly after spending a couple hours arranging always feels a bit like stumbling in the dark.

Sledgehammer to the face was the aim for this one hehe, thanks!

Dam this is heavy, great work on your song.

Grimy and slamming and spot on. Definitely gonna have to check the bundle for the guitar patch, which has this sick almost-talkbox articulation to it. The way the bassline dances around minor seconds without going full Jaws is cool and sinister. Drums knock (as you usually do), and the layered risers add a lot of atmosphere without killing the mix. The castanets were a surprise favorite of mine. Fuck yeah

this is a Banger !!! cool as f*** !!!well done !!

Sweet stuff! I like the vibe and attitude of this. Definitely can hear Gordon's influence. It's a neat piece, I like it a lot! Favorite'd.

This is such a big sound! Love the aggressive guitars and snappy higher-pitched backing plucks

Doom --Booyah! A good listen for sure. Nice variation throughout the track keepin' it interesting. Proper sounds. Bless!
