meta morpha slice

By DrumurBoy on January 29, 2012 6:44 pm

I was introduced to Shabazz Palaces last week by chillmatic. I was trying to emulate the techniques in there song "Are you .. Can you .. Were you?". This week was a total fail in my opinion lol ,but i did use some techniques i never had before like making a loop ,slicing it up and playing with the slices. Around 2:40 it sounded like mall music so i tryed to make it sound like you in an empty mall. C@C welcomed don't be shy.

I totally admire the effort, i love shabazz. this reminded me more of nujabes, which is a compliment in its self. If you ever want to give it another go, use a bit of down sampling and tape saturation to make everything sound a lot dirtier and use smaller loops with phatter sub sounds. When you start to glitch and loop the song really picks up and sounds wonderful. Just needs to be dirtier and a bit more subtle, still a really great attempt.

Totally chill... enjoying it.

This is really nice. That lead sound is wonderful. Have you ever messed around with a granulator/granular synth? For pulling apart and moving grains of samples and stuff.

really pleasant!

@vinpous I have tried but i had trouble getting something that was good. then again i only have FL's built in granulizer which hasn't changed since like version 5 i think.

good job!

I love this. The glitches, the smoooothsax. That empty high pass midsection. Great work.

Grooven, I love it. I think I would have made the piano a tad louder. But thats just some friendly cc, great song!

Go hard on the slices  smile   The claps give the snare a late/loose feel.  Very smooth sound overall.  Filtered section is cool.

Nice track! I like how you sliced all you element!
It's just the sound of the sax that sound too much like an 80's synthesizer.
I think (but i might be wrong) that this kind of composition technique needs more analogue feeling to it as it already sound very 'non-linear' and non natural!
Very cool anyway smile

FAVORITED! This is effing great.
