W07 Root Of It

By Drum Bender on February 18, 2024 10:55 pm

Instead of trying to work this one right up to the deadline, I decided to let it be a shorty. Perhaps it'll fit as a Pig Island transition track?

Been listening to Front 242 and Talking Heads a lot this week, so maybe that crept in.

Can't wait to hear everyone's W07.

man it's great as is. kind of reminds me of Orgy a little bit? or... industrial talking heads. really enjoyed it

I dig that quirky, twisted feeling outlined in the beginning and then that strong "Money is the root of it" hook. It definitely has a strong presence for being a little more than a minute long. These are the type of songs I was personally hoping to get better at making this year, short but well-executed and memorable. Great job, dude.

Super strong for a shorty! I had too many frogs on the brain though. I thought it was saying "Money is a ribbbbitt"

I agree completely with this song.

Great flow. Love the call response of your vocals. How are you achieving this snare sound? Loads of saturation but I am not sure I understand that reverb, sounds like a gated reverb, but maybe added with a fast delay?

Super cool.

Echoing what @djippy said, the bounce of the c&r with the vocal hook and bass works. Your drums are really fucking good too, you should like name yourself related to that or something.

Love all the sounds used in this.  The drums and the stuttery arp sounds give it a cool groove.  I too heard a bit of Jay Gordon resonating thru.  The vocal hook with the harmonies is super catchy too.  Nice work!

LOL

the beginning minded me of Max Tundra but can hear that hint of Talking Heads in there. I mighty fine tuney!

short but sweeeeeet AF, favorited!

Nice, I can see this functioning in an album flow similar to Big Man With A Gun from The Downward Spiral or Six Shooter from Songs For The Deaf
