Three Stinkers

By Drum Bender on May 1, 2022 10:59 pm

Dear Diary,

Another barfy but kinda fun attempt at doing whatever this is.
Got back to the multiple ideas in 1 take, in 1 day format. No mixing. No plan. Just playing for fun.

Idea 01 was the most freeform and anything goes... as per usual. Its hecka busy.

I like idea 02 @~2:27 the most. Can you hear when live loop starts and starts? I've been listening to a bunch of Nirvana demos this week and they are really inspiring. They remind me a ton of so much music I hear on WB. The only dif is Kurt took his demos, put together an incredible band, and got epic producers and engineers to help make his ideas way better smile

A couple weeks have gone by with a super distant vocal setup... I think it's starting to bug me enough that I might try to remedy that. We'll see. Currently any demo vocals are being picked up by the snare and floor tom mic.

I do keep trying to remind myself that I don't give a shit about making FINISHED tracks in a week. If i leave this year with a handful of demos that I'd be excited to redo + improve, that'd be rad. Or, if I can use this challenge to figure out how to do Drum Bender live... that'd be ever mo better.

Idea three @~5:40 is the catchiest... but also the stinkiest, most repetitive, sloppiest and I have no idea what the lyrics are.

What's your favorite WB track from this week so far?

I like the melody at 1:46 ish i think if you used a slightly weirder interval and wrote the drum part it would be a funs, sac-y mathy thing. I think the distant vocals are interesting but i'd rather hear them better.
