Just messing around with live drums, loops and trying to find my zone.
I run a venue in Sacramento called The Library Of MusicLandria and we had our first noise show this Saturday. One of the performers (computer) was BONKERZ. I found myself not knowing what to do as they beat the crap out of themselves, smashed their gear, bit their guitar and dragged it around the room like a wolf, bit their tongue and started bleeding all over the place, rolled around the ground in huge bursts of tears and screamed without restraint. It was so uncomfortable. It was incredible. I felt horrible for watching and not helping them. It was that awkward uncertainty of "is this part of the show, or do they need help right now?" I think it was both.
Beyond being inspired by that show, this weeks beat was about intentionally prepping to do Drum Bender live.
Random Question:
Does anyone know of residency programs for musicians to prepare works of art or recordings for live performance? Id love to find a studio that I could hole up in for a month and iron out some kinks.
