Give me a sign

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Begorrah diddily-idle Darby O'Gill etc. wink I'll most likely be celebrating by taking a day to wander, chill out and devour some new music - I might squeeze in a drink or two while doing so, who knows...

Congratulations to all on making it through the FIRST TEN WEEKS! Logic might suggest that our creativity might be getting strained by this stage, but the standard of tracks is really blowing my mind to pieces in a whole new way every single week. Thank you all yet again for sharing your personal musical madness, positive vibes and awesome feedback big_smile

Dr. Mindflip is sounding relatively reflective and restrained this week (not too restrained, don't worry...) I wrote these words about a year ago now - did any of your music ever seem, in retrospect, to pre-empt the future? Tis an eerie but pleasant feeling smile Enjoy!

Give me a sign:

The winter stripped my muscles bare
Black icicles and solitaire
And no one seemed to hang around
This nowhere
Hallucinations fill the air
Old bicycles and rusty hair
That disappear without a sound
When I stare

Give me a sign, oh lord
Something that’s mine
I’ve heard what’s right for you won’t pass you by

So a secret season rolls around
Spreads fresh white carpet on the ground
Yet currents warm and perfumes fair
Seem to surround me
Til I’m swept away
In a spectacular daze
The unpredictability of now seems to say

"Wear your cloak, your gratitude
Seek out your folk, the righteous few
With gentle words and energy"
May what I deserve come back to me

Every week, with your music,i am amazed that I'm not paying to hear it. This one reminds meof Beautiful South for some reason.

Top notch as usual - top grade vocals, excellent finger tickling on the ivory keys - another winner!

Thanks so much guys! Been a tiring week or so and this is a great start to the new one big_smile

lovely song.. soothing to my nicotine patched mind big_smile

holy... when that falsetto hit in the middle i got chills! the rest is excellent too - great jazzy chords in the opening and that minor "give me a sign" bit are both super solid. your vocal delivery kind of reminds me of john frusciante (his solo work) smile I feel like a derp for not coming here before... adding to favorites promptly smile

really astounding! Awesome playing! The part about halfway through gave me goosebumps. Wonderful!

Outstanding and beautiful. And it keeps getting better every week. The piano work is beautiful and the voice is perfect. I like the back vocals near the end, it adds a little something that makes the song more complete. Congrats on yet another great track!

bravo! This might be my fav one by you so far because of the reflective mood throughout.  The piano is perfect and the chord progression is familiar but makes those interesting changes right when you least expect it.  The lyrics I can especially relate to and the final "oh lord" chords I love.  They sort of introduced a new haunting theme at the end.  Which is why I love your songs.  Melodic goodness smile  Keep on chugging!  (oh and i like those background vox that take on a string section role, at least thats what i heard in my head)

Thanks a million guys - I really appreciate you giving me specific feedback on the bits that hit you the most! It's very rewarding indeed smile  I'm glad y'all like the middle section and the backing vocals near the end, put quite a bit into getting them just right.

More than anything, it's so great to learn that people are actually getting something from my tunes because it is hard to soldier-along and keep believing in what you do, as I'm sure most of you know. Thank you smile

Soldier-along indeed!  For me this project has at least given me some feedback, even if it's bad or just "good shit".  There's so much new music being released today that I often relate to the saying "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" I dunno it makes sense in my lil head smile Onward!

Love the second vocal layer accompaniment -- your music is soothing as always smile

Well done, as usual, Dr! Cool video too!

One of my favorites yet!

I know exactly what you mean about the Zen tree! The way I've come to see it, everything that is created from an artistic perspective is a worthwhile endeavour, regardless of the audience/success/popularity. Also, let's pretend that I'm the only one to listen to these tracks other than you (BTW I'm not), your tracks are all only worth one listen (BTW they're not) and that they all only last one minute (BTW...ok you get the idea!). Even if that were to be the case, that is 8 minutes short of one solid hour of musical indulgence that you have facilitated in my little head alone. Now expand as you see fit smile
