A real drag

Happy 20th week everyone! Hope it's been a terrific one for you all
I was so burnt out after the past few weeks activity, between work and the EuroMusic business - I've been unbelievably drained. So I took the week to visit my homeplace and sit around doing very little with my terrific parents and brother - lots of messing about in the sudden intermittent sunshine, reading Ray Bradbury and playing (generous terminology) a flute I bought a few months ago.
I didn't have any gear with me, just my laptop, but I did discover a load of old MIDI tracks on a hard drive that I keep here - I decided to rearrange and mix a few of them up and I finally record vocals to a very old sketch indeed. It's a more than a little bit different, more than a little bit rough around the edges, and I hope you enjoy it!
PS - I've been getting away from screens etc. as much as possible after the previous few weeks, so apologies for my lack of engagement here with you guys. I'll be back in mind and spirit very soon indeed Thank you all so much for your continued kind words and inspiring submissions.
A real drag:
I was born beneath the darkness of the foamy brine
But never do I sleep
I lie awake and I await the perfect time
To drag you down with me
When the muddles of this world confuse your mind
And leave your soul at sea
I’ll wrap around you
And drag you down to a murky submarine world
Where you can’t even hear your friends
And the rumble from the endless salty blue
Makes it hard to see an end
But there’s walls around
Ancient crumbling stones – cities left alone
The failures of the past
They too were built to last
They sank beneath the waves
Not houses now, just graves
There we visit all our shipwrecks
And find treasure in the dirt
Cos we know in time we’ll disintegrate
And start to float back up
I re-emerge with gifts for you
But you’re on a distant shore
And I’m done screaming
Cos you can’t hear no more
