Blind Date

By dreikelvin on January 25, 2014 7:13 pm

I like how we are shifting back and forth between experimental electronic and plain old-fashioned classical music. this time, I composed a little waltz for an upcoming stopmotion movie, which is a thing I've never done before. but thanks to piano lessons and a teacher that loved to tantalize me with robert schuhmann and chopin, I was able to easily come up with a simple melody and chord scheme. after the movie mix was done, I took the movie score and compressed it into a tinier music track. on your next spaghetti date, play this. see you next week!

sorry for the watermark beeps. you can listen to a clean version via my soundcloud account:

Wonderfully composed! Really nice work. Love to hear stuff like this on Weekly Beats, helps reminds me that there's a lot of variety.

Wow, this one caught my ear.  Such a cool departure from what most of us are creating.  I'd love to see the movie in conjunction with this piece.  There's a story beneath this that I'd love to see play out!  Well done, great composition and mix.  I do have to ask, what's up with the metronome-like beep?  Does that connect to the movie somehow?

thanks! yes I am sorry for these beeps. I am licensing my music via other publishers and agencies like istockaudio, audiojungle, ect. and want to keep control over my stuff as best as I can. the beeps are watermarks, which I usually add with a tool, called "voxengo beeper"

anyway, if this is bothering you, the clean version is also up on soundcloud:

Might be the best piece I've heard so far this week.  I love the piano ~halfway through.  I, too, am wondering about the *beep*.

haha...see my other reply...I might as well, put that info in the general description every time to avoid questions wink hey, and next time you hear the *beep* you know, it's me!

Ha, yeah we posted at the same time.  It doesn't even distract all that much, just made me curious.

Ahhh, thanks for the info.  That makes perfect sense, and the beep was fairly innocuous.  I was trying to picture how it might be tied to something visual...

Sounds like the soundtrack to a Pixar short, lovely stuff!

thanks mate! I was indeed listening to the "UP" theme before I made this wink

Great stuff as usual! The water mark beep just makes me think you write this stuff while hooked up to an ekg... which would make you a trooper.

Love it! Easy fave.

Welcome to traverse town...(kingdom hearts!) big ups dude you have yet to let me down. Score is excellent, progs and sounds are wonderful. Love the chord change halfway, reminds me of floating on a sun raft. I would like to see in future releases something with this feeling but translated into a more electronic vocabulary.

This is lovely, I can't believe this your first classical work.

it is not. I just never did anything like this for a stopmotion movie wink other than that I have done quite a few orchestral/classical pieces before

NIce one!

Oh man, I really like this. It's such a nice change of pace. You're a badass!

excellent. did I miss the link to that movie?

it's not out yet. I will make an announcement on my facebook and twitter page when it's time wink

I better open up a facebook account then! big_smile

Oooh. Very nicely done. As others have said, a nice and mature composition.

+1 on everyone else's comments. Nice work. Thanks for sharing!

hey, sorry for the delay! Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm absolutely positive that you'll do something outstanding with your recordings as well. Sometimes stuff has to be left in the drawer for some time before coming back. And regarding your entry this week: I'm so jealous you achieve so original stuff like that!!! I'm absolutely blown by the versatility of your output! Thanks for sharing!

A very pretty little ditty here.

Really nice piano and love the transition into the 2nd melody.  It has a comical yet romantic feel to it. smile
