An Apple A Day

By DocOctave on March 6, 2016 7:37 pm

This song started out, as many do, as a bare piano idea, some time back around 2005. It sat in my head, and occasionally I would practice it and work on it, but it never quite got anywhere beyond having an idea for a chorus about being allergic to fruit.

This past week, I finally resurrected this track, wrote lyrics for it, and sequenced this up. All tracks except vocals are MIDI signals going into Pro Tools instruments. The piano and drums were recorded live with MIDI controllers, and then edited for timing and accuracy, after which a string part was added note by note, with just enough dynamics to not be annoying (hopefully).

Reminds me a bit of Elliott Smith's piano driven tracks.  Digging that mellotrony string sound too.  Nice job!
