Diviser pour mieux régner

By djippy on November 7, 2020 2:51 am

Was not sure about what to write. I had this chord progression that I sometimes play and like. Kind of a melancholic feel. So I recorded that, then I was looking at US elections, it gave me the idea for those quick lyrics:

L'Amérique est divisé,
Divisé par le cash.
Divisé par la TV.
Divisé pour mieux régner.

This is America.
Welcome to America.

I tried to keep it with an acoustic vibe, so I did use the acoustic guitar. I have a hard time 1- Playing it 2- Recording, Mixing it as good as I would like to... This is what this is. I find this week that the drums feel maybe too roomy, again 3 mics recording. Still love the new drumset. Added a small line of strings because why not...

The strings are definitely a nice touch.  The acoustic guitar sounds pretty good to me also.  I like how the drums have a good presence but don't overpower the track either.

This sounds great, man. I love the way the acoustic guitar came out. The strings are a really nice touch, too; subtle but evocative.

The sound of the acoustic guitar is very very nice, you got the nuances and the life of the instrument. That is just perfect. J'aime bien les paroles. Je me demande si un EQ sur la voix aiderait peut etre un peu, peut etre reduire le range entre 100 et 200 pour reduire le wowowow et gagner en clarite?

I received the spitfire BBC orchestral free stuff 2 weeks ago and didn't use it yet so I said to myself that it would probably work fine on that one. smile .

Thanks a lot.

All together I quiet like the melancholic touch of this. And I can understand that motivation to puke out all that we are fed with for the last month and longer....the track has this Roger Waters/ Pink Floyd feel to it.
well done. Best regards.

Oh heck yeah, great stuff, Acoustic guitar compression is very tasty

Google Translate says the title is: Divide and rule smile

I dont think I've heard you do an acoustic rock track.  Sounds great!

How have I never thought to use google translate for Djippys songs?? Haha. I always just sit back and enjoy without knowing the words!

Great acoustic guitar sound this week!  Super big with the drums and bass.  Love those strings that come up at the midpoint. More of this!!

Maybe it's the French vocals but I always drift off into a melancholy void when I hear your songs like this one. I really like this!

A nice full sounding acoustic track between those new drums and the guitar.  The strings are a nice touch along with your vocals as well.
