Zoo Penih

By Devieus on March 29, 2020 1:58 pm

I felt lazy and a little under the weather, so I didn't change anything this week. I spend a bunch of time coding some other WeeklyBeats related stuff though.

It's pure chance that most of the instruments came out as square waves on this one. I'm okay with that.

i really cant get into chip tuning...

It's hip to be square hehe big_smile I'm a big fan of square waves personally

It's okay, it's only going to get more synthy as time goes on. Chiptune is easy to make sounds for, synths are not.

It's objectively the best wave.

Listening on headphones and the stereo field on this has me freaking the shit out.  So much going on!

Fish followed by Zoo? I think this is pretty irrefutable evidence of sentience. It's high time you paid this algorithm a salary.

60% panning is probably the best sort, feels natural but still retains fullness.

Once it starts making me some damn money first.

I have been really enjoying the musical journeys that come out of your account each week. This one is a lot of fun, too.

I used to be so into the square wave scene with its pulse width modulation, but it's all about the sawtooth these days.

So what's the deal, I checked this week's track against last week and they sound different.  Is everything randomized?

Hope you feel better.

It's quite a trip. Lots of exciting exhibitions to visit.

You're just lying to yourself, you're trying to break away from the top by pretending to set a trend where there is none. You'll be back soon enough once you find the errors in your ways. For reals, whatever works for you. You're pretty amazing with the saws. I bet your stuff would just sound weird with squares.

The whole thing is procedurally generated, including most of the instruments. I think they're in the notes of last week's song or two weeks back. Sometimes I just need to let it breathe to fully have the generator flex its reach, because although I know how big it is, you lot only see glimpses of it through one iteration every week. Realistically I could just run the generator every week from this point on and it'd be completely different every time. Some day I might. Some day I will. Some day you might too.

Feeling much better. It was mostly a dip.

Yea, I liked it, so I kept it and now I'll forever use it.

No, it's a plane!
Or at least its living capabilities are overstated.

This is going back to some of the tracks I remember hearing from you. I like the way the sounds are clear, not shrill--once I turned down my speakers. Am I hearing reverb, or is that some funky thing happening because of the instruments interacting with one another?

Definitely short reverb. Got it.

Definitely. That's just a bit of code that'll probably never go out. LMMS' reverb might not be the best. There's no but, it's just the best of four that comes with LMMS.

I don't like shrill sounds. I also don't like heavy drums. I definitely need to fix the mastering though, the reverb sometimes make it way louder for absolutely no reason, so maybe I can limit the types.
