Tales of Power

By Devieus on April 30, 2024 11:43 am

This was made by the new guy in two days, he likes the bass and using a touch of inspiration from Raioh made what can only be described as... well, many things
A sci-fi epic, perhaps, harsh truths and soft-spoken lies of comfort, unity, solemnity
It's very pretty
It's also partially procedurally generated, the drums are always, the melody was tweaked slightly, the progression as well (it's in C Locrian as well as C Phrygian), even the instruments, but it's what he did with them that really puts the power in it

Also birbs
They're also procedurally generated, but then they always were

Been a bit of a weird week for us, so it's good this got out fast
Seems like another project of us this year will be finding our own sound for each of us, for him, it's the saturated bass

Very cool chipmetal!! Enjoying the birbs as usual :-)

Mixing metal with chiptune it's such a great idea! I've never imagined these two together and been having a blast listening to your WB's and being surprised all the time! Thank you!

Yes, pretty indeed. Perfect job.

this is like when you pull the sword out of the stone and then you realize that your journey BEGINS NOW!!!!!!

Hot damn, when that distorted guitar comes in at 0:50 its so gnarly. Never thought about chiptune and metal together but it works so well. Also love those PWMish leads, never get tired of them - really like the ending.

The new guy makes some killer tunes! Love this one, favoriting!

Always love me some Phrygian. The guitars on this one are deliciously throaty. I love how you always get those gritty dirty grungy bits to integrate so beautifully with the chiptune sounds, it's a little bit magical!

I'm with OD on this, it has that journey begins now feel with it's triumphant feels.  And of course hooray for the sweet outro birbs!

Yes, I'm with OD, pulling out the sword and let's go! Triumphant melody. Agree, a little bit magical! Yes to BIRBS always

They enjoy your company as well. Even in the heat of battle.

If you're not familiar with Anamanaguchi, don't bother, we're all you'll need.

The right words if ever there were any.

I can see it now.
And there'll be a reprieve at the end of it all, that returns to the same leitmotifs.
Though truth be told, I think he tried to make this the whole journey, which is why the ending is the way it is.

We definitely have the leads saved, in fact I think these are mostly recycled from last week.
Glad you're enjoying the chipmetal, be sure to check our other stuff, it's almost all chipmetal.
As for the guitar, it's about the same as the 0:20 one.

He goes hard, it's a bit of a surprise to the rest of us, not gonna lie.

If you don't put distortion on your guitar, are you really playing guitar.
I mean, maybe, if you were playing surf rock.
I do agree with the juxtaposition, chip sounds are the cleanest waves out there, and the guitar brings the power. Especially if you make it extra dirty with Phrygian.

this is exactly how I feel listening to this song....    King Arthur and his Knights of the Pedalboard.   Well done Devieus!

I like that melody, which takes us to fantasy games of the 90s. It has hope and mystery, epic, passion, and courage. Digging it!

Interestingly, I don't have a pedalboard, but gunning for the king of chipmetal is definitely a quest I'm willing to go on.

I like it too, the generator still kicks it all the good ways.
