Oshinib But Gu

By Devieus on October 21, 2022 12:36 am

I got linked an SF2 of the Roland SC-55 by my friend Amaruq, the same sounds used in Doom's soundtrack. I figured I might as well use them by replacing all tracks with it. It's nothing like Doom, but it is a fresh take on what the generator's output can sound like.

I'm feeling a bit unstable, I might not be around much longer, but that's okay, I'm positive Spider will do wonderful. She's a wonderful woman after all.

Interesting that it sounds nothing like doom. This however does feel different from the other tracks from the generator. The birds are still there though.

Even the birds are different, the bank comes with a bird and or course he had to use that. Still, different though it is, it's still pretty clearly from the same pedigree.

Fresh upbeat melody this time around- these sounds definitely contributed.

The melodies are exactly the same, but I suppose the instruments gave it a little something.

all your new settings and the advanced rhythms are making a great improvement. I do not want to say, the old tracks were not good. I like the sweet melody that pops up here and there. have a nice week.

I love how you can take something that was used for Doom and make something so fresh and airy. Great job.

Which is weird, because those things haven't been touched since forever, so it's all just the luck of the draw.
I say that, but the scale generator does influence it, so maybe it's that.

I'm sure it was used for a lot of things, it was Roland's first GM compliant sound bank. I just know it was also used in Doom.
I bet the vibe would be totally different if he did use the instruments also used in Doom.

the sustained accordion like feel is really nice!

I want to play this sunny, outdoorsy Doom level now smile

Hi Spider!  Big fan!

Accordion is nice at any length, really. I can't even begin to imagine what this level would look like.
Also hey, big fan of your work too (I didn't make this song though).

Nice momentum and joyful shapes!

Oh there's a blast yikes the roland sound canvas!  Def recognize those Doomish drums but the generator is def capable of sunnier days.  Noice!

I haven't seen the spectrogram, but it's possible there's a smiley in there.

Probably a D&D adjacent FPS.

Oh such a blissful playful track and what great definition our dear bird has in his chirp!

Yea, figured it's in there, might as well make use of it. Just going full hog on the replacement.

Listening to a bunch of your tracks in a row, and reading your references to a generator but not quite understanding it, I can say that there's a real musicality to the compositions of yours that I've heard that I wouldn't always associate with music made with generative aids. It's super catchy and beautifully human.

It took a long time coding. The generator should be linked in our profile, it's a Python script that generates an LMMS MMP file that can be opened right away with as little dependencies as possible.
If you're ever into coding, give it a look.
