Improvide

By Devieus on January 11, 2018 8:52 pm

So this week I just kinda did some stuff on my melodica, then followed up on that with some ukulele. It's not terrible for something that has no set tempo or anything, though I do realize my mic is probably not the best for this.

Analog will have to combine with electronic from now on, preferably a little more structured. Good thing electronic is good with that.

Old country blues on a dirtroad. i can almost hear the clacking of hooves.

Lovely.  This inspires me to break out the melodica!

Good stuff.

You should totally do that.

nice playing and recording.

Very nice heart. I got some serious... pensive mood listening to this. Like when you watch to camp fire.

I've taken some cues from older songs in previous years by other people and used it broaden my horizon on what type of song elicits that strong emotional response. One song in particular is SILVERTONE by BlondieBrunetti in 2012 (https://weeklybeats.com/blondiebrunetti … silvertone). To be fair, the Silvertone stuff isn't that good for a campfire feel like a melodica, so I got that going for me.

Honestly, it's easier to make that kind of music than to describe the emotion.

I like the way it breathes.

Tfw everything went to shit but you keep it cool anyway. Nice tune smile

Now I want a melodica. Great atmosphere!

I was quaking the entire time.

You should totally get one if you can. They're great composing tools and cat deterrents.

Sitting by the campfire, sipping a warm cup of cocoa, chilling out with friends... . ..  nice!

T think the mic sounds nice. Maybe it hasn't a hifi sound, but it fits quite right with the vague nostalgic feeling of the piece. Nice

The problem is the noise canceling kills the long notes of the melodica. I'll check if there's an option to turn it off for the next time.

awesome, so chill smile

There are worse ways to play a melodica. I wouldn't say it's ideal, but it beats blowing it out of your ass.

true smile

I think it has a good character.
Ist a live recording, not perfect, but OK.
Nobody is perfect and no Musicstyle is everybodys thing.
I like the Melodys and agree with Podling.

It's worse than that, it's a raw recording. Those are never going to get out of your shirt.

Is it OK if I like Melody?

this is awesome.

I don't know who this Melody person is, but sure.

Much appreciated, Ms. J.

This is super interesting. I like the kind of lilting mood you create.

I like the nostalgic feeling of this and the breaths in between smile

Feels like your taking us along in a small boat. Maybe a pirate skiff (I don't know what a skiff is, but I think I'm correct here). Always great to hear an acoustic tune. Nicely done

Nice interplay, and you're keeping it really organic here.  (Respect from a fellow uke player!)

I guess that's a word for it.

Gotta keep them breaths in for maximum authenticity, though I knew full well it would add to the emotion.

It's a little boat used to get onto the shore due to shallows. It'll fit the band at least.

Interestingly the uke part was probably the least organic part, I recorded the melodica improvisation first, then sectioned it off into chords for the uke and recorded that in parts. You can get away with a lot of things if the mic is as bad as this one.

hot damn. i'm sorry i've been sleeping on your stuff. this is great. reminds me of a tune i would hear in the Name of the Wind world

this is super lovely!! big_smile heart

I've never heard of that, but I reckon it fits a lot of things.
