Hemitennial

By Devieus on December 16, 2018 4:38 pm

It's not a word that exists, I looked it up and got 0 results, so now it's time it got some. That also means it'll get a meaning, and this one's fairly obvious. A combination of hemi- and centennial, so 50 years. I'm not 50 years, but this is the 50th week of the year so that'll be a good connection.

The whole thing is fairly standard, some melodica playing the chords over the Gadget composition, but I'll be able to look back in 20 years and imagine this'll be playing on my 50th birthday. Or anyone's 50th birthday for that matter.

This track has a very pleasing 1950s feel to it so also another 50s reference. This is I think my all time favorite Devieus tracks or within the top 5.

Timeless (with a touch of that Harmonicats vibe). Alt-50s, perhaps? The organ completes the mood.

Yeah there is some sort of old-timey innocent sounding goodness here for sure.

That's quite a claim among 173 songs (plus a few others), but I suppose you've given a wide enough berth for it. I guess it could be 50's, I don't rightly know.

I'm not sure, it could be 2050's for all I know. I do like the organ as well, I should save it.

It could be the organ, or the off-time melodica, or even the wholesome completion of the bass, rounding it all out.

Excellent old-timey feeling with the organ lines and melodica.  Save the organ! smile

very beautifully laidback... I love the contrast between the melodica line and the vibrato stuff. A very nice contrast in sounds and gives this one real depth. Love it!

It's been saved. I can make a QR code for Gadget users too, I think.

It's the maximum chill, just letting it vibrato.

I love the melodica and organ combo as well, but let's not forget the round, well grounded bass that ties everything together. Top notch compo!

As per usual, the bass is the unsung hero, though I'm sure I could've put more out of it.
