Thank you,  you're too kind To be fair, M8 is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of sound manipulation and FX, way beyond what the poor soundblaster-equipped 486s could do (which is kind of remarkable, isn't it?)

Definitely interested in exploring something more "pure" as far as OPL3 goes, I think it could work well with a more abstract or minimalist track.

and yeah go for it! the hardest part of high tempo tracks for me is that you need to make more bars to get the same number of minutes, but you gotta switch it up now and then!

Thanks and agreed on OPL3. I randomly remembered making this track that my first exposure to classical music was some random MIDI file (Corelli's La folia iirc) I played as a test on an OPL3. I was blown away! Went on to listen to a ton of classical music in the form of MIDI files readily available on the internet, before I knew any better
