Week 1:

This "song" (or loop, rather) is really more of an experiment with different techniques and exploration of LSDJ than anything else. In this case, VOL column in tables and E cmnds as an attempt at side chaining. I also initially wanted to try and write something darker and grittier in texture, but I apparently can't -not- write in a relative major key to save my life???

The inner perfectionist in me already loathes this. I hope you enjoy it tho. CC is always appreciated.

I think the sidechained bass that comes in after the intro is a bit too delayed. You can create a bass that essentially side chains itself. Start out with a VOL of 05 or a bit higher (remember, sidechaining isn't a "cutoff" after the kick, it's just a softening of everything else to emulate compression) and make the end volume something pretty high since it won't necessarily get there in time (30s or 40s), speed at 3 (to be in-time with the song's tempo), and pingpong it if you want. tongue

Overall, I like this, the WAV bass's resonance might need some work to fit with some of the sections, but overall this is fucking great. :3

This would be killer with some rythm guitar and some vocals

I have the opposite problem where I can't write in major. I totally relate, but backwards ._. That aside, fantastic work and I can't wait to hear something from you every week this year!

Everything he said about a self-side chaining wav bass.

That is a super fun idea I've never tried. I'll have to give that a go!

Thank you for the comments everybody smile

I will definitely try that out, thanks for the tip!!

Yeah! It's fun if you do an E1A in the phrase or something like that on every other channel every time the kick hits. It's what I did in my song if you wanna listen to it. I think you're already doing that with the Volume column in tables, right? Just another way to emulate sidechain that really accentuates it while maintaining your current melodies and doesn't take up tables. :3

Oh man, this is great!
I haven't heard your stuff for a while - you're blowing me away haha.

Can't wait for the next 51 big_smile

Keep it up dude! Great track! Lol I can't write in major keys ever.

What a display! Really shows LSDJ off. My only cc is that the melody at the beginning and its repeat about half way in are too loud. Stellar work dude

Really dig those layered arps! Dope.

Definitely one of my favorites for week 1. Lookin forward to more.

Solid composition, sounds great. Looking forward to the rest of your stuff

The melodies and chords in this are really nifty.  To add some criticism, the lead could use more character at times; like, not everything has to fade in volume at the same rate/add some portamento, etc.

I don't have much CC - maybe a stronger lead. But man I love the chorus and the melodies you've come up with.
