Unequaled Conformity

Ah, the joys of old hardware. The Alesis broke down and didn't break back up again, which is a big bummer. The Mackie was threatening to cop out with a couple of crackling channels. Working on this week's beat was a bit of struggle.

Built the jam on last week's Volca Sample breakbeats, added a (hopefully) funky FM bass and an annoying pad melody. Difficult to tame the dynamics of the breakbeats and the FM bass, got lost in details, lost the feeling and went blind. No idea where this ended up, maybe it's alright in the end. Figured out some technical stuff, anyhow.

Will try to repair the Alesis.

Bass is funky yeah! And the melody is kind of annoying, so if this was the point, very well done!

The drums are really fun to listen too as well.

REading your story and listening at the same time I really started to lose hope... literally at the moment and then that brEAK hits! (at the 1 minute mark) That break really cooks with the funky bass! smile

yeah very cool track like all the detail in the bass track & the drifty synths up top.

Cheers, thanks for the feedback!

OUCH sorry to hear about your Alesis! I would lend mine to you if you were local but I'm afraid there's a whole Pacific Ocean between us neutral best of luck with repairing yours, it's always a bit of a crapshoot for me.

love the funky brassy bass, reminds me a bit of Rolando Simmons. hard to believe those breaks are Volca Sample, it's way better than anything I ever did with that sequencer. pad didn't annoy me at all! nice one.
