Ethernet Levine

A formal jingle this week.

Left channel:
13 EDO, 130 bpm, sine wave, ascending thirds, six octaves

Right channel:
11 EDO, 110 bpm, sine wave, ascending thirds, six octaves

The idea was to create phasing both in time and in pitch, with the two channels gliding in and out of synch with each other. They end up in the same spot eventually, with the left channel needing 27 notes to reach there and the right channel needing 23 notes.

I'll look more into it at a later stage, possibly with more channels/divisions, possibly with Shepard tones.

Thanks for listening, peace and love!

Very cool, I would love to hear more of these experimental micro tonal scales interacting. It's trippy.

Trippy it is! Listened back to it now, think there are more nice things to figure out here.

The interplay between the two sides is super interesting.

I like messing about with polyrythmns but never approached them like that (stereo panned and quicker resolution). I feel like with that stuff you have to watch out, the results can easily feel forced, but it really works here. Sounds a bit like an old-school Sci-Fi sound FX  or MK Ultra / UFO documentary , and I'm loving that. I hope you revisit the concept!

That is super trippy I had to listen to it a few times.

What a sound!

I’d like to imagine what an ethernet connection sounds like.

Really interesting how they come together. It all feels in tune.

Thanks, squelette! Yeah, good call. I was thinking about the intersection of cassette intro test tones, old sci fi fx and jingles here. big_smile

Stereo ethernet at different bit rates, almost twice the bandwith! tongue

Thanks ENC_! Yeah, they seem to hold each other in check. Maybe they average out to a 12 tone scale in some weird psycho acoustic way?
