Playing around with slight pitch offsets

By Dandy on January 12, 2020 11:31 pm

I'm honestly not particularly proud of this one. I set out with the intention of messing around with echo techniques in Famitracker combined with fine pitch tuning to hopefully create some sort of cool synth-y sound. I don't think I succeeded but the result is kinda different, and Weeklybeats is all about finishing a track, regardless of whether you think it's your best work.

love the sounds you're getting out of this! particularly with the changing chord progression. something very classical about it.

Oh nice big_smile I think it's still very rad, I do love interesting progressions like this!

Feeling like some tracks turned out better than others is totally relatable here.  Even simple stuff can hit the spot though!  This has a really nice progression and synth sound.

Cool progression, and even if you didn't get the sound you were looking for, I like how it turned out. Got slot machines on the brain now.

A bit Chopin, a bit Beatles... very cool progression smile

This is a cool experiment, and incidentally your technique of "slight pitch offsets" results in excellent voice leading, which is probably why so many folks are hearing a classical connection (the Beatles also had a lot of good voice leading).

As long as you learned something.
