THROSC'ed

2 weeks ago fellow Weekly Beater Phil Harmonic released a work-in-progress VSIi plugin.  It's still heavily in development and missing many of which will be the final features... no ADSR, no volumes on OSCs, no LFO and a click bug due to not returning oscillators to DC unity (which I hope he makes as a toggle!) - but despite it being an early beta I thought I'd give it a go and see what I could squeeze out with it.

This is 100% THROSC plug-in... EVEN THE DRUMS (!!!) (it can make a mean kick sound)  Making the snare and hats was really hard though (stacked 4 instances with fast randomised pitch bends and frequency offsets with the highpass filter)  But then the Choir-pad sound came really easy with 2 layered instances.  It ended up being 10 VSTi instances with baked drums at which point my DAW stopped adding more instances (is this a limitation?).  I tried to avoid EQ using the THROSC filters to shape the sound instead - so apart from drums this is largely non-eq'ed.  HUGE thanks to Phil Harmonic for releasing this plug-in for us all to try.

Wow.. really innovative use of the plugin. The faux-hihats sound rad.  There is no limitation on the number of instances, but your DAW might be limiting it. The plug does use a lot of memory for the giant wave tables. As I said in my email to you, there will be a new version soon with ADSR on the Amp and the global filter.  Plan to add LFOs later, but honestly, that might be for a different plug. Wanna keep this one really simple and light if I can. Thanks again for giving it a try. Sounds awesome wink

oh also.. as for the DC reset. Usually that is done with a short fade. With the ADSR you will be able to keep the click if you so choose.

This is awesome. Great sounding synth too! Well done, Harmonic Phil.

nice!

Really cool... I like how the drums came out.  I got to try this out.  Probably take me a month to squeeze out some blips but your piece came out really well.

Nice! really like the fullness and layers

@Phil Harmonic - Sounds great that the asd(R) will allow you to keep the click. ;-)  Good luck in continued development!

This is awesome. Can't wait to give the THROSC a go.

very very great music!! you are awesome! smile

Very cool, love the plug in, it looks & sounds awesome

Catching up on your weekly beats from the past month or so and I see a pattern: 10000% awesome week after week. OUCH!
