picoBeat 1 (picotracker beta)

By cTrix on February 11, 2024 6:48 pm

I've been lucky enough to pick up a prototype picoTracker in the past week or so.  This is my first test track on it.  Using old samples I've had for eons.  We've unofficially dubbed the unit the "M7".  It's surprisingly fun and easy to use - but does currently wig out if you hit more than 6 notes of poly!!  So it's still very much beta - I think I lost this tune about 3 or 4 times during making iterations of it due to an SD card access bug (now fixed!).  But with each day it gets a few tweaks to make it more stable.

Recorded through the M8 (lol) into laptop, mastered without headphones using laptop speakers at 5:20am because I went out and saw JD beck and DOMi tonight then sank a bunch of beers with some friends... and that was after a pretty hectic BBQ session earlier on!  I just happen to roll over at 5am and remember I had weekly beats written but to still record.  Plus it's hot AF... even at 6am - I've literally opened all the windows to get some airflow though the house before I bolt everything shut and try and get sleep before it heats up massively!  (no AC)

This is incredible! The M7 rocks!!

so much transients, I absolutely love it. I'll have to keep my eye on this Picotracker!

This is very cool. Will have to keep an ear out for it.

awww snapz, never heard of the picotracker, soundin ace! heart

hahaha late night bangers as always maate

shiny tune!!!   BTW I like to imagine that this is the kind of tune you could put in front JD Beck and Domi and they could probably play live and it would actually sound not out of place in their set haha

Somebody get this guy an aircon!

Those chords really cut through on my laptop speakers, sounds like they float above the mix, must be some stereo separation or something? Sounds lush.

amazing work as always! picotracker looks so cute I hope to get my hands on one some day!

Very impressive work. Still a miracle to me, how this thing works.

Incredibly charming! Chiptune house, eh? You know how to embrace the simplicity to make it sound deliberate vs. a forced limitation.

That cTrix-brand make-the-hard-stuff-sound-easy vibe cool

The-really-hard-stuff

This sounded very big through the sound system on Friday night. Impressive stuff.

Really sweet track! Also this sounds like a fascinating Tool! I was just saying to my partner the other day I feel pretty content with Music equipment, but I’ll have to keep my eye on this

firstly, this is very cool! secondly, mega envy that you saw domi and jd beck lol

super fun tune, love the feel of that shuffley beat

She bangs!

also, thanks for playing at chip damage and putting on such a fantastic light show.

The people: cTrix should release more of his music

Me: I love weeklybeats

Man where were you during the HEXAWE days? ;P

It's weird there's already such fierce competition in the pocket tracker space
Anyway, this is a good song, great vibe
