NES Life (Live from Nintendo Entertainment System)

By cTrix on May 17, 2026 5:24 pm

Prototype live performance software for the Nintendo NES.  Basically, it's LSDJ for the NES... and it's f''king awesome!!  (more about it to be announced soon)

Played live at Melbourne Chiptune Academy with Woz (front of house engineer) doing some additional filters and FX for me because no one brought a DJ mixer! (ooops!)  This is straight out of the Nintendo audio sockets of a 1988 era NES model 01 (PAL).  It's performed in the semi-developed live mode and written about 50% on the actual hardware and about 50% in emulator when I made it.

I was demoing the software for the first time at Melbourne Chiptune Academy with a screen to the audience, so really flaunting my live skills in it - sometimes jumping phrases a bit early... but that's techno house for you!  Enjoy.

Listened to this a couple times on repeat, it’s great. Props on your live performance. Takes a lot of guts to demo software in-front of a crowd. I didn’t know I needed chiptune inner city till now lol. Needless to say I’d love to sample your voice from this performance, would make hell of great ad-libs. Great work buddy.

Sounds great! And I really like your explanation along the way. It fits nicely together. And then the "Good Life" sample dropped! Blast from the past from all corners. Thank you!

As a long time LSDJ user, I'm very intrigued by this NES prototype.
Will you be releasing it somewhere down the line?

Makes me extra sad that my NES somehow disappeared a long time ago! Great work! Also, super cool that it was made with a kind of LSDJ-ish prototype for the NES (which from what I've heard here and in some other NES-based tracks has a pretty good low end?).

Super excited for the new software (please don't give me GAS for a NES)
Awesome live vibes too!

Probably the closest I’ll get to hearing streets of rage on a NES. LSDJ on the NES, that’ll get certain folks excited

Huge track!! Couldn't believe what I was witnessing when you played these tracks. Chuffed to get to put my own little touch on it from the mixing desk wink
