Just Noise (all samples are simply the noise floor from input of Digitakt)

By cTrix on January 28, 2018 3:56 pm

Made this tune with nothing but the self generated white noise sampled from the Elektron Digitakt.  All instruments generated from this "oscillator" aka. white noise you hear at the start.  I sculpted 9 instruments in total.

eg. Kick is a highly resonant low pass filter whipping down.  Bass is a longer loop of a specific part of the white noise but jumps around the start pos to give it variation.  Hats are obvious HPF... snare has shuddery LFO on it (could be better!)... and yeah, a lot of LFO + filter tricks to do the rest of the instruemtns!  Recorded from headphone out of the Elektron into the line-in of my old Macbook in a couple of takes.  Bit of comp, no EQ.  This is pretty much raw Elektron :-)

Made while sitting on my bed in front of air conditioner on the hottest day of this year!!  ..... I shudder to think what this will sound like on studio monitors but hope u enjoy the experiment all the same.

I miss the days of this sort of manipulation. As a huge fan of make sound out of what seems to be unusables...I support this.

HAH!!! dat source,
...so I wanna hear you make a track out of DTMF one day...

great technique! I like how there's that smear of high reverb over the whole thing, makes it sound nice and dreamy but also like a rainy winter day, which is surprising considering you made it in the peak of summer!

You're a wizard!

That's pretty clever, you're modulating the shit out of something, I wonder what it's like with something less frequency saturated.

Suuuuper impressive, and a tasty tune to boot!

Awesome use of the Digitakt and even cooler you got to make the entire track in bed!  Nice work!

Wow, this is crazy science like shit. Quite the opposite of my approach where I start with 9 instruments and produce noise smile Never cease to amaze!

Don't put things so easy for him, Aday. I'm sure he could do another fucking amazing ALBUM out of one Nokia ringtone smile
