Save early and often, kids!

I forgot to save, and an overnight system crash left me with absolutely nothing this morning.

So you get a tossed off mosaic of percussion loops. Which is more or less what I'd been working on anyway, so...

Ouch!

Still, an admirable recovery!

What DAW do you use? Some, like flstudio, have auto-backups.

Ableton does not, unless I'm missing something... it friggin' SHOULD though!

Maybe try these options?

There is a chance it's in your AppData\Roaming for pc or Library/Preferences for mac.
Since it was open all night, perhaps it had time to save a version? Who knows. I have crashed Ableton a lot, but I usually have a saved version.
I've been trained to do it since I grew up with Scream Tracker, which crashed non-stop. Anytime you write something you like, ctrl+s! I even make a habit of incremental save files whenever I'm about to make any drastic changes, so if I didn't like what I did, I can easily go back to an earlier version.
Hope this helps!

well done. i think i can feel your anger about your data loss in this one. like.

Thanks for the links! And yeah, saving regularly is a good habit... one that the advent of auto-saving has ironically cured me of.
