Walking Disaster

By CosmicCairns on January 21, 2020 12:21 am

I was doing a test track just to make sure I was recording sound a couple weeks ago and just picked up my guitar strummed some chords and sang some nonsense off the top of my head.  Upon listening back to it I thought it was actually kind of catchy and might be worth turning into a real song.  I mean it's not like I don't have almost fifty more weeks to go or anything so any idea is a good idea at this point.  I wrote some lyrics and fleshed it out a bit and pulled out the old popcorn tin again to add some percussion and called it a song.

Popcorn tin makes a crafty return. Super catchy guitar chords, but the bass line seals the deal! The base line's the hook and it's cool that it doesn't come in until after the first chorus.

Oh this is good! You got the pop song skillz 2 pay the billz (if you will) : ). That guitar solo at the end was nuts!

Very catchy, love the way you did percussion...

Thanks!  Yeah sometimes I like to hold stuff like that bass line back a little.  I think it hits a little harder than if it's there from the get-go.

Thanks!  Yeah I had a lot of fun with that guitar solo.

Thank you.  It's one of those necessity is the mother of invention kind of things.  I'd love to have real drums, but I don't own a drum kit, don't have space to set one up, and am not really good enough at drums to justify the expense of buying one (although it would probably force me to try to get better.)  I've found the popcorn tin woks in a pinch to at least add some percussion.

Fun track again. smile You "drums" works fine, but a real drum is a blast. (however, Way too loud I just cannot play at home…)

I'd really love to have real drums, but I hear you on the loud thing.  Even the popcorn tin freaks out my dogs and annoys my girlfriend.  I can just imagine how a real drum would go over.  smile

I'm not sure what I'd do without the popcorn tin.  I'm sure it will be back again this year multiple times.  smile

Thanks!  It's crazy to see what a little fleshing out will do sometimes.

I think the same!!! One more hit to be released on a `best-of´record. Let me give you a big compliment for the enormous speed on strumming and drumming. The guitarsolos are very tasty, too. Great job.

Thanks!  I definitely wanted to give this song some good energy and it was a bit faster strumming than I'm used to.  I was glad I didn't make the song any longer because my strumming hand was getting tired by the end.  smile

Close, but no. It's got a good jaunt going in it.
