Virus Named Cyrus

By CosmicCairns on January 28, 2020 1:04 am

I thought I'd do something a little more synth-driven this week, although I couldn't resist adding a little guitar and bass.  I also spoke through a toy megaphone I bought last year just for fun-sies.  Keep on bringing the excellent tracks everyone!  I think WeeklyBeats is killing it so far this year.

Best... title... everrrrr... damn now I want a toy megaphone....  .. . for the kids smile tongue Crazy track, would be great accompanying a dusty old claymation freaky alien circus... or not haha

Ha that megaphone is fun!
Nice little tune and cool how it all went crazy at the end...

The toy megaphone and beat lend an early Devo quality to the track.  Perfect name... now I have been compromised by Cyrus, the Virus.

I will keep my tongue, but the title shocked me. Qrosh was the same persian king as cyrus. But nevertheless this song is like a ride on a carousel on acid.

I love the "fight" between the organ part and the "virus" part. The guitar solo in the end tries to be the middle man, but I really can´t tell if it is of any use. Great track, again! And indeed nicely different.

...and I was referring to the role of the guitar in the "fight" as a peacemaker, not the quality of the solo smile

Yeah it's a pretty cool toy.  Not very big, but it has 4 different settings you can put it on and get different sounds.  It was on a pretty big discounted sale at some store I was at so I couldn't resist picking it up.

Thanks!  Yeah, it seemed like it was getting a little more chaotic with each element I added along the way so it felt appropriate to break down into craziness at the end.  Entropy increasing or a virus expanding or something.

I didn't think about the Devo-esque angle to it, but I can see it now that you mention it.  Thanks!

I did not know that Qrosh and Cyrus were the same.  You learn something new every day...

Thanks!  It is kind of a fight between the organ and the virus and maybe the guitar is the attempted medical intervention, but I agree I'm not sure it won out in the end...

This is a cool idea for a track, I almost figured out what you were going for before reading the description. Sounds like you had a blast recording it too smile

This organ riff is, pardon the pun, infectious! Can't help but bob my head to the melody big_smile

Yeah that crazy vocalizing vibe must have been in the air this week.  Or great minds think alike.  smile

That megaphone sounds like a frantic guitar solo almost.  Such a cool effect to it.  The ticking hat gives it a fast pace too.  Nice work!

Funky virus you brought with you.

Thanks!  I'm always on the lookout for cool little sounds and that megaphone definitely delivered.

Thanks!  At the very least I figure it's preferable to bringing the coronavirus.

Well I saw the title and immediately thought of Con Air... What an atrocious movie. Groovy track though, but also quite unsettling...

I'm a little ashamed to admit I've never seen Con Air, but looking it up on imdb I see that John Malkovich played Cyrus the Virus.  Dang it, and here I thought I was being all clever coming up with a rhyme for virus that nobody else had ever thought of in the history of the universe.  Oh well.  Guess I need to watch Con Air now though.  Or maybe not, since you say it's atrocious.

It's worth it for Nicholas Cage and his hilarious southern accent but you should be proud that you have never seen it.

oh this is fun! I haven't listened to WB in a while but hey, now I get to listen to 2 new CC tracks in a row! PS. I head to your city this week. Maybe we'll fit in a collab?!

I shall wear it as a badge of honor.

Yeah I've been meaning to get in touch with you since I knew your visit would be coming up soon.  A collab would be awesome for sure, if we can make time for it.  Let me know what your schedule is like.  I should be fairly open unless work or life throw a curveball at me.
