Trading Banter With a Delusion

By CosmicCairns on August 28, 2018 11:09 pm

A late night inebriated guitar jam with some vocal improvs thrown on top.  It's kind of sloppy and I'm not sure what it "means" exactly, but I was channeling something I think.  Hope you've all had good and productive weeks!

Definitely takes me to those hazy late night last calls at a show, that sort of meditative blurred state where your body is tired, your mind wanders and your soul is happy, you nailed that feeling big_smile

Thanks!  That description is very much how this track kind of came to be.

Pure Dionysian energy, moments before you burst into flame.

Ooo.  That's a great description, too.  Thanks!

Sometimes the vocals sound like they are being played backwards which could be due to drunken slurring? Definitely has some far eastern mystical feel to the guitar jamming. This is pretty fucked up... I like it!

It's probably a combination of not enunciating well and also I ran them threw a bit of effects.  I didn't reverse any of them though I suppose I could have to make it more fucked up.  smile  Yeah, remember one of the guitar lines is particular had a far eastern feel as I was jamming it out and at least at the time it didn't seem to be clashing with the other parts so I ran with it.

Thanks!  It was pretty fun.  At least what I remember of it.  smile

That was a super psychedelic trip.  The guitars with the fx gave it a sort of Hendrix-era feel.  (maybe because I've been listening to Hendrix lately)  The lone guitar outro was cool too.  Nice work!

Thanks!  Yeah the reason that outro exists is I was having way too much fun jamming on that part and kept it going after everything else stopped.  smile  Also I don't remember what all effects I used, but I know one of my pedals has a "Purple Haze" setting and I think I might have used that.  It would definitely contribute to the Hendrix feel.

Great energy, fun to channel that "something" sometimes. Cool title too. I think it actually enhanced my concentration as I listen here at work, which I wouldn't have expected. I like the melting of the ending.

Yeah I can kind of hear that "reversal" sound now.  Wish I could say I accomplished that effect on purpose, but nope.  It was by accident.  smile

It certainly is.  The title came from a line I heard in a TV show awhile ago.  Don't remember which one, but I jotted down the line for later use because I liked it.  Interesting to hear it can work as a concentration enhancer.  I wouldn't have expected that either.  Yeah I remember that ending was particularly fun to just sort of jam out.

This is quite punky and very psychedelic at the same time. The african elements in the beginning could have had another go in the end part smile

Thanks!  That's a good idea to bring that part back at the end.  If I ever do a more "planned" take of this I just might do that.
