It's been a bit of a strange week for me.  I was a little under the weather with a lot of congestion and head fog, although I tested negative for covid.  Starting to feel better, which is nice.  Then out of the blue my niece's husband passed away at the age of 33.  I wasn't close to him and for a variety of reasons I won't get into here I wasn't the biggest fan of him or their relationship.  Still, it's hard to feel good about somebody passing.  It's been more of a mixture of complicated feelings for me and if nothing else I feel sad for my niece because that must be an incredibly traumatic thing to go through.

So nothing terribly ambitious on the music front this week.  I just played around with my microkorg.  I had to literally dust it off because I haven't used it in over a year.  Since sometime during Weekly Beats 2020.  Just had some fun layering some sounds and setting it to a bare bones beat.  Hope everyone else is doing good and still feeling creatively energized.

Good work getting a track up. Life gets complicated and heavy even at the best of times, and being able to push on and find expression is sometimes the best we can do.

Your microkorg is a neat little machine. nice oldschoolish sounds been layered together beautifully.

I'm doing alright, dealing with personal issues, but nothing grim yet (for now)

Mellow is good

Thanks!  We never know what sort of twists and turns life has in store for us, and if nothing else this week has reminded me of its fragility.  I unfortunately will inevitably have even worse and heavier weeks at some point, but hopefully not for a long while.

I always have fun with it every time I pull it out.  It's got some nice sounds and I always enjoy the tactile experience of turning knobs on it and seeing what happens.

The older I get, the more I find mellow is great.  The best weeks are the ones that are as mundane and drama free as possible.

so sorry for your family's loss.  ugh, another WB had a death in the family as well.

glad you didn't have covid and are feeling better.

nice jam.  microkorg has some great sounds.

i'm doing okay, tired, but excited that we're all together again.  been having a lot of fun getting to know people more on the WB discord.

I like it when it's neither, even if I collapse exhausted at the end of the day

Sorry for the loss... always sad to hear. 33 is not the age to go behind the curtain sad   Your track has a marching feeling, in a positive way. A bit like a respectful funeral march, not too dark, but solemn. This feeling is surely created partly by your background story, but still... a good one.

Death is lame.  I'm not a fan of it.  I'm definitely happy I didn't have covid, but I woke up this morning with a slightly scratchy throat and now I'm worried I have it now.  Hopefully it's nothing.  I can't wait for this stupid pandemic to be over.  The micorkorg is a pretty cool little instrument.  I always have fun with it if nothing else.  I've not checked out the WB discord.  The only other time I tried a discord for a completely different group, I felt like I didn't like the layout of the site or something and I never really got into it.  But maybe I should give it another try.

Thanks!  We weren't close, but 33 is definitely way too young for anyone to go.  I can't imagine it.   I didn't intentionally try to create any kind of funereal feel, but it may be there regardless.  Or the backdrop of the week may be creating that impression for sure.

Sorry to hear about your niece's loss.  My family is going through a similar situation.  Death is never easy but thankfully we have family to help us get through.  The microkorg has some nice bassy tones to it.  This def did have a slow sort of marching feel to it.  Glad you dusted off the microkorg.

Thanks and condolences to you as well. I'm actually impressed with the bass sounds on the microkorg.  It's a reliable little instrument and I'll be sure to keep the dust from accumulating too much on it this year.

holding space for you & your niece

Sorry to hear about the loss. This had a reflective, contemplative feel to me, calming in its repetition. Fun to get out a sound maker after a hiatus. Cheers.

Sorry for you and your family's loss. Thank you for sharing this nice track during these times.

Thanks!  Appreciate it.

Mad bass synth skills! I like the electronica CosmicCaims sound. You need to keep that microkorg handy. Sorry to hear about the rough week. It seems to be a season of loss for many people I know.  Condolences to your niece.

Thanks!  I'll be sure to keep the microkorg a regular part of the mix this year.

Sorry to hear that, lost a few people this past year both close and not-so-close but it's all sad regardless. Good job on the track though, enjoyed all of it!

Nice song

It's never a really great feeling to lose anyone you know.  Thanks for listening!

Hmm, no clue how I missed this last week, sorry!  Sorry to hear about the loss in your family.  Even if you guys didn't have the best relationship, I'm sure it still takes its toll.  I guess that answers the covid question I had if that's the same sickness you still had this week.  Hope you're getting over it by now.

This is a really cool track man, the bass is creating an insane amount of pressure in my ears (listening in headphones) which feels wild.  So many great sounds and melodies in here too.  Love the wobbly LFOy sounds too!  So many of them!

Thanks!  Yeah the microkorg actually has some pretty good bass sounds to it and has a bit of power for being such a small little object.

This was unexpected. A track, very different from your usual ones. I like it!

Thanks!  I'm trying to stretch out a bit and try out some different things.
