Whirlwind Effect

By Cosmic Cairns on November 16, 2022 7:44 pm

It's hard to believe there's only a few weeks left to go.  I'm doing my best to go out on a high note.  Here's another song!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

All these days just blur together
As they race their way along
Always wrong about the weather
So I'm getting drenched here
I just wasn't prepared
To be caught out in the storm
When you'd think that I'd know better
And dress up in something warm
Or at least put on a sweater

All the leaves are blowing round me
Caught up in a whirlwind
Not so different from the people
I see running around
Stranding themselves aground
And after all these years
You would think that we'd know better
We're children of the Earth
But we so often forget her

And I lie down in the trenches
Staring at the stars above
Wondering if it's all the same
Out there where nothing's been touched
In the cosmic nonesuch
But if I had to guess
It probably isn't any better
Stuck on another world
The rain gets you even wetter

“The rain gets you even wetter” Perfect last line! You always right the sweetest lyrics heart
Such an energetically uplifting track, but with a sense of wisdom that transcends any need to cling to one single emotive reaction, keeps a nice sense of sophistication to the overall delivery and message.

Beautiful track that is very season appropriate. There is a lot to love of about this track. Like this pipe-like instrument around 1:45, such a nice little accent! Even solo has this sense of innocence, of childhood, while the track has this slightly nostalgic vibe. I need to go back to the 80s on my bicycle.

your songwriting is constantly fantastic. I love the amusement, when I follow your lyrics. you have different perspectives on subjects and deeper meanings can be found. the track has a good drive and creates a good mood. the use of the penny whistle gives the song a nice touch, supporting the melody and beeing in-between.

When you put it like that, it feels almost like a blur, time and space both
Also a missed opportunity to name drop yourself (cosmic nonsuch?)
Nice song, very wholesome feeling

Thanks for the kind words!  Much appreciated.

The 80's on a bicycle... is there anything better?  Thanks for listening!

Thanks!  I do what I can to keep it interesting for myself and hopefully that translates to the listener.

It often does seem to feel like a blur.  I name-dropped myself in a title back in 2014, but perhaps after 8 years it's time for another one.

That's a perfect gif for fall.  Pretty.

Well, you keep bringing it week after week! Your recordings keep getting stronger. Cool vocal melodies and trilly flute sounding riffs.

Thanks!  I think I've managed some improvements this year.  The weekly grind is good for practice!

energized and soaring high. Full rich sound and mix. Hey, a kinda disco beat. Your vocals sound great and a super bright energized delivery. a little flute thing, ha nice. Lyrics awesome as usual.
Yeah I'll agree with the 80's on a bicycle image here. No just a fall bike ride. I took some of those this year, very joyous like this song. There's little elf playing flute in a tree!

Really cool vocal harmonies and enjoyed the uplifting mood of the song.  The whistle was a nice touch too.  Nice work!

I need to get back into bike riding.  I always enjoyed it a lot when I was younger and before I could drive my bike was like my ticket to freedom.  Cheers to little elves playing flutes in trees!

I found that little penny whistle laying around among my collection of instruments and thought it would be nice to work it in.  Thanks for listening!

(I think it may have been that week when I was like "I'm burned out and tired, does it even matter I post anymore if I've not been happy w/ anything I've been making on weekends while wishing I was sleeping or reading instead?" but trying to keep my chin up for the last few weeks left...)

"And after all these years
You would think that we'd know better
We're children of the Earth
But we so often forget her"

...Hits hard. Love how "uplifting" tune but the lyrics are from some point of view hopeless. Really, really good. heart

I think it's kind of interesting to pair somewhat downbeat lyrics with upbeat music sometimes.  It sort of matches my general world outlook.  I have a bit of a dim view of life and humanity, but I also want to have as good of a time as possible while I'm here.  I think I'm kind of an optimistic pessimist in that sense.
