Vivid Ocean Colors Far Away

By Cosmic Cairns on September 18, 2022 6:22 pm

I was out of town for most of the past week (will try to catch up on listening to your tracks over the next couple days), which was a nice escape because I've been feeling a bit mentally overwhelmed with life and world events and whatnot lately so it was a good battery recharge.  But I didn't really feel like writing any lyrics, so I thought it would be a good chance to try out an AI lyrics generator.  I chose lyrics.mathigotti.com kind of randomly.  This one asks you to put in some keywords/phrases and then it spits out some lyrics.  I put in a few different words I know I've used in the past in songs including the five words I ended up using as the title.  The first attempt at lyrics did not yield a very impressive result as it just repeated the word "magical" about 50 times in a row.  I realized it had a creativity meter and a repetition reducer function so I cranked up the creativity to the max and got a lot more interesting result the second time.  So here's my AI collaboration... lyrics by machine, music by me.

There is no place I could call home, my direction
No place to hide my face I'm on an island in my outer space
So I can think about what have we done and why has life been so hard?

I think about the things we used to say and do
And the things we'd die of if we had to stop this shit using weapons.

You let go there's no reply
They say you're a loser, you're on your way, but you gotta stand out from the bunch

Another day when lovers are gone, another lonely dawn
When grass on the trees is oh so near, yeah.

But this time it's already over.  It cannot be separated.

Another day when lovers are gone, another lonely dawn
When grass on the trees is oh so near, yeah.

We walk an empty path on an empty avenue.  Just a word takes us by the way (way).
We sit side by side on the edge

It's nice to see you used the AI generated lyrics. A beautiful ballad again!

I always find your tracks so psychedelic which is a good thing!  Even though they can be catchy. Your production has really improved over the years too.

I hope your energy and batteries are recharged soon so your are not dependent on a lyricmachine. I somehow recognized it, while listening the song, whithout knowing the backround, that something different is going on in your head. Musically it is a beautiful and epic track. But to be honest, I tried such a lyric app myself, but could not do anything with the result, because I can not sing at all.

AI is great, it's technology at its core, so it's a tool you have to wield, you're wielding it right
For the most part, it's trying, but the subject matters shift a bit hard, but that's okay, it's just nice hearing your voice
get well soon

It's kind of fun to play around and see what AI can do these days.

Thanks!  I really like to try to find the sweet spot between psychedelic and catchy when I can.  I've been putting a conscious effort into improving my production skills.  Always new stuff to learn though!

I don't think I'll permanently rely on lyric generators, but I might use them once in a while just to mix stuff up.  It was kind of fun to approach the songwriting from a different direction.

Yeah, I think the limitations of AI can be interesting because I would never write these particular lyrics myself and I'm not sure it makes a ton of literal sense, but I think there's are some interesting turns of phrases nonetheless.  It's a fun experiment at the very least.

i love the accents provided by all the strings, they really lend weight to the feeling of flow here, as if like a wind that blows the vibe to greater and greater heights... such a great arrangement and mix smile

Love the anthemic feel the melody has throughout.  The synth strings sound great with the guitars too.  Well done!

It was fun to come up with all the little accents and flourishes on this one for sure.

Thanks!  The AI lyrics forced me into some melodic twists and turns, but I tried to keep it having a uniform feeling.

Amazing arrangement. The orchestration of the cellos and strings are the best this year! You're crushing it!! I heard "outer space" so we should put this in the SciFi Film Fest smile

Thanks!  Outer space was actually one of the keywords I put into the AI and I guess it decided to spit that one back out in the lyrics.  By all means, though, feel free to use it!  smile

Technical question: how do you process the vocals? They're extremely wide in the stereo space -- is that two takes hard-panned or is this something else?

An old friend once wrote a joke: "what's the difference between great lyrics and bad lyrics?" "GOOD MUSIC." Fairly certain this would work well with "magic" said 50 times in a row. Really good work on the arrangement and working through those lyrics heart

It's two takes panned about 50% left and right.  Thanks for listening!

Awesome flowing, soaring song, classical you sound. If you said the lyrics were yours I'd believe it. Great production. Very cool idea to use AI lyrics, I gotta try that out. AI is all over the creative spaces these days, images, music, words .. hmmm, well here we go.

It was definitely fun to experiment with AI lyrics.  I don't think I'll use them all the time, but it seems like a fun thing to turn to once in a while.
