Roadblock

By Cosmic Cairns on February 25, 2020 5:58 am

I wanted to do another vocal-driven song this week, but I knew I also wanted to give my cello a bit more of a prominent feature this time.  This is what I managed to come up with.  Peace.

Aww yeah, cello time! Really sweet track, you tell 'em roadblocks who is the boss big_smile I like the canon-like vocals towards the end!

Lots of character with the cello and piano. Sounds super honest and peaceful.

This is great. The vocals are amazing. Cello, piano, guitar. Everything works.

GOOSKINMUSIC!!! It can not be made prettier. wunderschön.

Thanks!  I wanted to add a little extra something to the end and the canon vocals seemed to do the trick.

It is kind of peaceful feeling when I can get in the zone with the cello. Thanks for listening!

Danke Schön!

Love this, which artists inspire songs like this for you? This music feels so familiar but at the same time I can't think of anything quite like it.

Thanks!  I wasn't thinking about any artist in particular when I did this, but I'm sure the years of listening to a lot of stuff have permeated my brain with influences.  Maybe some Beatles or Simon and Garfunkel or even R.E.M. circa Automatic for the People or something like that.  Mostly I just came up with the vocal melody first and then the cello part and just ran with it.

Always happy to hear the return of the cello.  Both vocals and cello shine in this track.  Both clear and out front in the mix.  The minimalist piano melodies are a nice touch and very well done. Great work!

Thanks!  I wanted a little piano, but I didn't want it to distract too much from the cello and vocals so minimalist definitely seemed like the way to go.

So beautiful singing harmony! It is in together nice along the other instruments. The strings brings a relaxing sound.

Thanks so much!  I really appreciate that.

Definetly agree with the others, the cello is a great element in here. The out-of-tune piano gives a nice touch too. Lovely stuff smile

Had me at the opening sing-along guitar strums instantly.  The cello adds a nice touch to your vocal harmonies too.  Well done!

It's definitely nice having a cello to add to the mix.  I feel like it can really elevate songs sometimes.

So business as usual, I guess? Great stuff either way.

I'll definitely make sure it gets into some more songs this year.  I'd use it even more often, but it takes a little bit of effort for me to get it.  It's big and takes up a lot of space, so I can't keep it in my room where I record music. It stays in another room so it's not there to just grab and use.  I have to make a conscious choice to go get it. It's not like it's the hardest thing in the world, but sometimes when you're in the flow of recording it's easier to just use stuff that's right there at hand.

Yeah i know what you are talking about... when i record something i do it mostly in the living room. Sometimes i don't get my bass simply i am too lazy to put it back afterwards or i feel that there are enough cables and chaos is around me... My wife promised me a room for making music when we get a bigger flat smile

I totally get all of that.  That's super cool of your wife to promise you a music room.  They're definitely nice to have.  Good luck on getting that bigger flat!

Sweet one. Nice lyrics. Those roadblocks ... always around. So true about just grabbing whats available when creating. Makes a difference. Cello is awesome though.

Thanks!  Laziness and what's easy to grab always plays a big part for me, but the cello always seems to add a little something something extra, so I will fight the laziness and get in some more tracks this year for sure.
