Quantum Idiot

By Cosmic Cairns on March 13, 2018 12:50 am

I had fun using my cello last week, so I thought I'd bust it out again.  But this time I wanted to do something a little different with it so I ran it through some effects pedals.  There's a little bit of electric guitar and a touch of harmonica, but most of the distorted sounds are actually cello.  Otherwise as far as the song went, I just wanted to start with something simple and kind of build up as it went along.

Cello works well with the vocals. Great song!

So nice, the cello with the vocals are really working great!
But i also like the the second part where you crazy on the cello smile
Real cool that the melo is still in the background.
Is it also the cello at the end or an eguitar. Cool ending!

Oh yeah! Nice, sort of melancholy, tune. Great to hear more of the cello.

Thanks,  I need to use my cello more.  I keep it in a different room than I record in for space purposes so I think I forget about it sometimes or I'm too lazy to walk down the hall and grab it, but it was fresh in my mind and I had fun using it!

Thanks.  If you're talking about the very end, it's cello run through a distortion pedal.  The only guitar part is the high pitched line that kicks in right after the vocals stop.

Thanks!  There's something about a good buildup that's always satisfying.

I'm going to try to keep it in the mix this year!

Yep i asked about the very end... coool sound!

This is really creative!

Love that beat in the beginning, and great lyric. Like how it builds up with so many layers, cello sounds great, nice work.

I listen to your music in a paddock... old rusty car... back seat with doonas... cups of tea and muffins... old vhs footage of high school shenanigans...

Outrageous! What a great track! I quite like this song, nice job.

It was fun making the different layers for sure.  Thanks!

Thanks for listening and commenting!  I appreciate it.

Awesome use again of the cello and great atmosphere created with it towards the ending buildup. Love the growl it lets out when you finish too smile

Thanks!  Yeah that final growl did sound pretty cool.  It sort of just happened as I held the note.
