Kind Of On Fire

By Cosmic Cairns on August 3, 2016 2:11 am

I was digging through some of my old files when I found this track that I had apparently started working on back in 2009, but then for some reason stopped working on and forgot about.  I'm not really sure why I abandoned it back then.  I don't even really remember recording it.  But I liked what was there enough to try to flesh it out a little more and finish it off.  I thought that would be a relatively easy task, but for some reason my computer did not want to allow me to add new parts to the original recording.  It kept giving me error messages and crashing.  So I eventually had to import the old track piece by piece over to a new session and line everything back up where it was supposed to go before I could add anything else.  It ended up being a much more time consuming process than I anticipated, but it's nice to rescue something out of the dustbin sometimes.

Thanks!  I tried to do something a little more elaborate this time and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Thank you.  This was definitely an attempt at going for a Beach Boys kind of vocal harmony.

Yeah, this is a lovely summer-sounding thing!

Yeah, the Beach Boys on Acid (oh wait, they were). ::)

Or maybe "The Beach Boys On Acid" On Acid!  If that makes sense...

This is both trippy and funny for some reason.

Beach boys on double acid fo sho! smile The instrumentation had a nice beatles-esque feel to it, especially that brassy synth that comes in towards the end.

This is a song that should be pressed on vinyl forever.

Nice rescue! Those opening vocals are soo sweeet!

Thanks guys.  I think those vocals came out halfway decent!

Very cool, love those harmonies, thought of beach boys as well, but I like this more! I just watched that recent movie about Brian Wilson, Love and Mercy, its enjoyable.

I still need to see that movie.  I do like me some Beach Boys, especially Pet Sounds/Smile era.

Love that harmony opening!  More of that please!
