This is a good jam - I find it interesting that even though it's played with electric guitars, this actually reminds me more of ambient electronic soundtrack than what we'd usually find with electric guitars. I really like that and find it inspiring!

I can't imagine what it must have been like for you making this in the heat; given the summer weather here in Japan, I don't think I would have had it in me to do anything else but lie around in my own sweat and feel sorry for myself.

Thanks!  Last year around this time we actually had a massive grasshopper invasion here.  I think they missed the memo and arrived a year early.

I kind of was just laying around feeling sorry for myself and I thought maybe recording could offer a bit of a distraction.  I think it actually kind of did, but I don't think I'll be attempting to recreate these recording circumstances any time soon.

I did the beat and the synth chords first to give me some basis to jam over.  Then the guitars.  Then the bass and extra synth lines.  The distorted guitar noise at the very end was the last thing I did because I felt like it needed some other kind of textural element.

The bluesy guitar lines reminded me a bit of Jan Hammer's Miami Vice score.  Like in a scene where Crockett loses yet another girlfriend.  The irony of listening to this humid track is my AC is currently being repaired too!  What have you done!?  jk!  Seriously it's hot in here, coffee was a horrible choice!  Love the guitar fx towards the end too.  Well done!

I think I was in a bit of a different mind state.  It was bloody hot.  I guess it made for an interesting recording experience and may have led to different results than I might have otherwise gotten, but I don't recommend it and I don't think I'll be intentionally repeating it.

Unfortunately our house is kind of old and falling apart.  Also we're trying to re-finance to take advantage of the historically low interest rates and they're requiring us to do stuff like replace the roof.  It'll all be worth it in the long run though.
