Golden Goddess

By Cosmic Cairns on August 11, 2020 2:31 pm

This is just my humble attempt to create a few good vibes.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Golden Goddess won't you wash me in the light spilling from your eyes
Golden Goddess with your hands radiating warmth like the sunrise
Golden Goddess won't you bless the morning bless the days to come
Golden Goddess as the land vibrates around you with a hum

Feel it in my spine
Sun shining all the time
It's in my bones and in my head
And in my toes the words you said
Swirl in my ears and through my mouth
Up in the north down through the south
And west to east and east to west

Golden Goddess I can feel your presence everywhere I go
Golden Goddess all the stars and planets line up in a row
Golden Goddess I've forgotten all about the way things were
Golden Goddess I am ready for the new world that's for sure

Wash the old away
With all your warm sun rays
Your magic flows all around
It's in the souls of every town
And in the hearts and in the minds
Of everyone now for all time
In all places in all spaces

This song feels like it was made of good vibes. Really enjoyed it! How long did the vocals take to record? Did you do anything to them in terms of effects?

I like the vibe of this track. I think it may be because of the vocals but I get a Smashing Pumpkins vibe (on the quieter tracks) from it. Nice melody and piece overall!

Thanks!  It didn't take me too long to do the vocals. Maybe a smidge longer than normal because I had to do a separate take for every other line since they overlap.  No special effects on the vocals other than double-tracking them.

I feel the good vibes. The overlapping is great. And cool harmonies later on.

It's been a minute since I've listened to any Smashing Pumpkins, but I remember they had some good quieter tracks.  I remember liking Pisces Iscariot a lot back in the day.

Thanks!  This one just felt like it needed the overlapping vocals.

I love that delayed guitar. Really nice work on this track, I love the vibes!!!

Once again, I always get a kind of psychedelic vibe from your tracks which I really enjoy.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The overlapping vocals are a great effect. The guitarsolo and the cello parts are awesome. Love your melodies and the good vibes you are sending out. Thanks.

Agreed, very good idea to overlap the vocal lines. feel good track. smile

The doubled vocals feel nice! How many takes did you end up doing? I've been trying to create a vocal mix similar to this

Thanks!  It was largely a vocal driven track, but the instrumental part was fun to put together, too!

I like psychedelia in music.  Even just a hint of it is kind of nice.

Thanks for listening!  I wanted to use the cello a bit sparingly but hopefully effectively.

Thanks!  I just sort of knew instantly that the vocals should overlap on this one.

I don't remember exactly, but not too many.  I kind of did a first take where I just sang every other line and then a second one where I filled in the missing lines.  Then a couple more takes for the backing vocals.  It might have taken a couple tries to get a take I was happy with, but I got it done pretty quickly.

Lovely, the lyrics are great. Really enjoyed the harmonization too! The guitar solo has a perfect amount of smoothness, especially when that string comes in. This is a tune.

Thanks!  I liked how that cello coming in during the guitar solo worked out, too.

The golden goddess blessed this song and continues to do so.

Thanks!  May the golden goddess bless your endeavors as well!

Def feeling those good vibes with the cool vocal harmonies and guitar.  A good song for a campfire or a small gathering.  Excellent guitar melody for the guitar solo.  The cello completes that section so nice.  Well done!

Thanks!  And here's looking forward to some campfire weather!

The interplay of the main hook with the "oh" sound blending the end and beginning of lines is great. As always, another happy song with a relaxing calm about it.

The good vibes from the goddess have been spread! Great vocals. Like it, great melody, nice words, puts a smile on the face, yay. Where did the golden goddess idea come from, do you know a golden goddess? smile I like "In all places in all spaces"."

Thanks!  I liked the way that oh sound flowed.

I was mostly just thinking about the sun and warmth and positivity
and I had the idea of some sort of benevolent sun deity and it seemed like gold would be a good color for her.  Plus I liked the alliteration of the two "g" words together.  I kind of pulled the same thing last week with three "f" words, (although none of them are THE f-word).  smile

Very nice and uplifting... the slow, big beat in the beginning gives this nice weight... although it is otherwise beautifully light and floating. Great work!

Thank!  I did feel like the beat kept it grounded in hopefully a good way.

Looks like its been said a couple times already, but I'm really digging the overlapping phrasing on the choruses too.  Great song writing on this one.  Love the lyrics/melody and the solo section. I'm getting some Modest Mouse or the Shins vibes from this.

Thanks!  Sometimes the songwriting clicks and sometimes it doesn't.  I felt like it was clicking pretty well on this one.

I like how you have that little slapback or chorus on your vocals, real nice and creates space.

This is a warm, loving song.  Would love to just sit outside in the sun and hear you play this on acoustic while we enjoy a WB family picnic

I would be happy to play this live at the picnic, but there would have to be two of me to sing the overlapping parts.  smile
