Gateway to Hiccup City

By Cosmic Cairns on April 22, 2022 2:44 pm

I was waiting around for a phone call I had to take for work and I had a little bit of time to kill so I thought maybe I'd jam something out.  I was flipping through sounds on my Korg Triton when I stumbled on this hilariously dumb beat with a fake voice effect.  I didn't know if I could do anything halfway decent with it, but I figured it would be fun to try and actually I think it turned out pretty cool.  Better than I was expecting at any rate.  I topped it off with a couple layers of microkorg and then the "hiccup" sounds are courtesy of a piece of sheet metal I bought a couple years ago for work purposes, but never ended up using so it became a musical instrument.

That beat and the fake voice are excellent. smile What a weird little thing! This track is a weird trip, loving it. smile

great sound to make weird gymnastics to. don`t you think? I am using it for this purpose.

catchy rhythms! intentional hiccups are the best kind of hiccups, this track feels so original because of all these unexpected nuances in the sounds, and how they all fit so nicely within the mix.

Thanks!  I came upon that sound and it was so delightfully weird I knew I had to try to do something with it.

Weird gymnastics music sounds like it should totally be a genre.  And I think that description fits this track to a tee.

Thanks!  I'm not a big fan of the unintentional type of hiccups.  It was fun putting the sounds together on this one.

Trippy, fun times. I think it cured my hiccups. Hiccup city sounds like not a fun place. Wow, sheet metal sounds so cool. Fun diversion, different sound from your past few weeks. Dig it.

Hiccup City isn't a fun place to visit and you really wouldn't want to live there, unless for some reason you like the hiccups.  I'm not a fan personally.  Thanks for listening!  It was a fun excursion for sure.

this sounds really cool, I like how every element of the track seems to breathe and move in time with the voice elements in the beat and the hiccup sounds

Thanks!  It was fun bringing everything together on this one.

HA - i love/hate hiccuping.  it's so funny to me, especially when it hits you mid-sentence, but it can be SUPER uncomfortable even painful.  I once had hiccups for about 3 days, and I even went to see a play during that time!  I was able to mostly suppress it for the play.  crazy.  the end.

i like the vocal sample - reminds me of the killer instinct soundtrack samples for some random reason.

okay this was less a review of your track and more of a journal entry thank you for your time smile

Super catchy rhythm but even more so with the fake voice effect.  At first I thought it was a llama from minecraft sound smile

Reading this almost induced hiccups.  Bravo! *claps*

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of hiccups, especially when they won't go away for a long time.  3 days!  Holy cow, I think that would drive me seriously nuts.

I've actually never played minecraft, but I just looked up a video of the llama and I can see the similarity.

superfun hiccups!

Now that looks like an intense hiccup.

Understated, but this goes hard, you don't bounce to this beat, you put your hood on, lurk to this. Fun track, love the sound of this.

For you, my friend.

I can see that hoodie lurking vibe.  Thanks!
