Farthest Known Reaches of Spacetime

By Cosmic Cairns on August 31, 2022 9:08 pm

A little story-song about a planet that lost its way.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

On the bottom of the ocean there once lay a sunken monolith
Undisturbed for vast millennia til one day its stone eye opened

Somewhere across the great divide of expanding spacetime
There was a corresponding stirring from its companion
Off in the stars

And then came the great awakening all of the worlds rose to consciousness
And fulfilled their various purposes living on in galactic harmony

Within the ever changing tides and flow of the cosmos
One tiny planet fell out of sync, got lost in the darkness
And grew cold

Oh poor Earth where did you ever go?

Cut off from the rest of everything this world became sad and ignorant
And its lifeforms just fought endlessly over nothing of any importance

Someday perhaps they'll hear the call from the furthest reaches
Of spacetime inviting them to come back into the fold
But heaven knows

Very interesting mix as I enjoy how you put a definite focus on certain instruments and parts through out the song.  A fun and floating feeling.

I just love your songs. made by a gentle superbrain.

Thanks!  I try to highlight whatever feels the most "important" in the moment I guess.

Thanks!  A gentle superbrain sounds like a good song title!  Maybe I'll use it later this year.

These lyrics carry some kind of divine inspiration(i suspect you live among the stars: how else could you lay it all out so objectively big_smile), i’m amazed at how poignant they are, and at the same time the song keeps everything fun, so i can digest it gradually the way my subconscious needs to in order to comprehend the full wisdom. I especially love how you bring in harmonies around “and grew cold” then switch up effects on the voice to create certain peaks of energy that lend more weight to the overall progression as we journey through such a clairvoyant message. Magnificent song-writing here heart

Thanks!  We get so caught up in our Earthly concerns most of the time, but I think it's good to contemplate the big picture once in a while.

I like how you can sing a song with lyrics of cosmic scale yet make it sound like the something to sing at the campfire side. smile

Really cool vocal harmonies and excellent guitar solos! Well done1 smile

like the dreamy surf vibes in this spacetime continuum
josh really likes your melody on this one - he's commenting from the other room & asking if you have a bandcamp - sending him a link now smile

Thanks!  Now I'm thinking it would be fun to take actual campfire songs like "Michael Row the Boat Ashore" or "Kumbaya" and stretch them out into prog/space rock epics.

Thanks!  Vocal harmonies can be tricky, but I really like 'em so I keep trying to pull them off.

Oh, cool.  Tell him I said thanks and hope he enjoys!  Thanks to you, too.

These planets just want to have a good time and party. Maybe Earth just didn't feel like it that day.

Pretty strings and harmonies. I want to be off in the staaaarrrrs! I like where your voice goes lower in parts. It really fills out the harmonies.

Sometimes Earth just wants to be left alone.
