Drone Alone

By Cosmic Cairns on November 24, 2016 12:39 am

I've been absolutely hammered with a ton of stressful B.S. at work this past couple of weeks, but I found a little time to make this drone.  It consists of a few different elements that more or less run continuously, which I then cut up into smaller snippets that pop in and out of the mix with various effects on them to add some different textures.  It's probably not the greatest thing I've ever done, but I'm just glad to have gotten something done this week music-wise.

dig it. this has a nice, subtle build up. when's 'drone alone 2' coming out? here's to your work being less stressful! smile

First I appreciate that you don't have skipped this week.

This track is nice!
I am normally not the biggest fan of drone only music... I should rethink that!
This one has a great  energy with first rythmic synth and there is a lot to discover...
like the singing saw sound and this cool voice like sound in the middle of the track

When it's this active, is it still drone? It is, however, energetic fun. Well done!

It could be called Drone Alone 2:  Lost in New York.  Depending on how my work stuff shakes out, it might be coming sooner than you think.

Yeah, I'm generally not a huge drone fan either, but they're pretty easy to make and that was my #1 criteria this week!  Glad to hear it came out okay.

I'm probably stretching the definition of drone a little bit, but in actual construction it was like a drone.  I held the same key down continuously on the keyboard for the entire basic track, it kind of just added its own little extra flourish as part of the setting I was on.  Then a couple other parts were also continuous sustained notes.  The other little bits and pieces, like I said, were made by chopping up other parts of the drone and reinserting them in random ways.  If I'm pressed for time again this week, I may do a more traditional sounding drone.  Or maybe not!

This is a funride par exellence. And a new side of you, too. You build this drone up and drove into a real psychotic mania.
P.S.: What is stressfull B.S. at work? I have no idea.

Maybe it's an American term that doesn't translate, I don't know, but B.S. is a slightly more polite way of saying bullshit.  If you don't use that phrase, it basically just means nonsense.  A bunch of unnecessary nonsense that I didn't cause suddenly fell on me and it became my responsibility to figure out how to clean up the mess.  It's definitely been making me feel psychotic and that probably found its way into this track!

Nice job! I got a nice visual of like a robotic assembly line coming together to produce something mysterious smile
