Diamond Geyser

By Cosmic Cairns on December 15, 2022 1:44 am

Just had a weird idea about a geyser that sprayed out diamonds and went with it.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It's rumored that they gather up gems for rings
Around here but I don't know anything
About that so don't hold me hostage
And if I knew I'd point you right to it

A diamond geyser would be a sight to see
Glittering stones showering all over me
But I'd guess you'd need some sort of armor
Or those things would pummel you senselessly

What's that noise drifting out through the trees
Buzzing like a hive full of giant bees
Could it be the mythical geyser
Just spewing diamonds into the stratosphere?

Grab your bags and gather up what you can
Diamonds are all raining down on the land
Growing deeper wading up to my waist
Forming lakes of blinding reflecting light

I guess that was all just a dream
Things like that just don't exist
Gemstones don't burst from the seams
But it would be cool if they did

Then on the back of my sleeve
A shiny object caught my eye
And then the next thing I knew
Diamonds rained down from the sky

I learned a new word. to pummel. very nice sounding when you speak it in german. and I wonder how to make a guitar sound like coming from under a pillow. this was a very nice song, creating fantastic pictures in my head. well well executed.

i love the tone on all the solos, feels crisp like wind, yet electric like thunder. 'Diamond Geyser' has such a cool feel to the feel and phrase of it, too. so imaginative! heart

Pummel is a good word.  I'm not sure if I've ever used it in a lyric before, but better late than never!

Thanks!  Not sure how the phrase/idea 'Diamond Geyser' occurred to me, but I liked the sound of it.

If I've learned anything from minecraft, it's that you'll need diamond armor. Love the interludes where all instruments drop and there is that single cello melody (I think it's a cello with effects) foretelling something awesome is about to happen. Great effects.  And the Hendrixesque guitar outro is awesome!  Great track!

I've heard of exoplanets where it's theorized that it rains diamonds. But I don't know anything so don't hold me hostage to that notion smile

ha, what an idea. Now I'm really want to see this geyser. These diamonds sound much better than blood conflict diamonds we get today. But yeah they may hurt if they rain down. Nice break in the flow at 1:40, that really grabs attention. Ha, this is fun story telling. I like the vocal sound you got going. Crazy outro, what a ride!

Cool idea! I really felt a "The Cure" vibe towards the beginning and it was awesome.

It'd be great if that could happen, but then where would they come from

Vocals are captured nicely and I enjoy the angular shifts in certain sections.  Fun lyrics too.

I suspect armor made out of diamonds would be pretty strong and might protect you from getting hit by diamonds raining out of the sky.  Good thing to have if you ever visit one of those exoplanets.

Yeah, this would be a much better way to get diamonds than the current blood diamond fiasco.  Although knowing humans we'd probably figure out a way to make this bad, too.  Thanks for listening!

Thanks!  I must be feeling some Cure vibes lately because I got a comparison to them a couple weeks ago.  smile

The obvious go-to answer is "magic" and perhaps there's a magical wormhole that connects to one of those diamond-raining exoplanets NWSPR was mentioning.  That's my best guess anyway.  smile

Thanks!  It was a pretty fun one to assemble.

Nice panning on all of the instruments gives this fun track a full sound.  Really cool synth parts too especially those string like ones.  Suhweet distortion and flangey goodness towards the end with the outro.

Thanks!  The year was running out and I felt the need to just have some distortion before it went!  smile
