Cheerful title, eh?

One of my recent wrestlings was the whole "what instrument am I committed do" drama. I have that a lot. Lute is, clearly, a front runner, but there were some recent new additions to my gear...

This week you get to hear me play drums! I've always wanted a set since I was a kid, and the opportunity arose here lately... I've switched out the heads to Remo Silentstroke and added Zildjian L80 Low Volume cymbals because let's face it, I need some quiet practice before I can rock the neighborhood.

Apart from playing, another problem is recording. I didn't want to drop another couple hundred bucks on mics, so I am recording this with the same mic I always use.

So this is me noodling two lute tracks and one drum track. I had a whole 'nother song that was much more rockin', but my intent remains to have acoustic music without grids and clicks, and this was an important step. I don't really know if lute and drums together are a good idea yet. We'll see...

Maybe you should switch to nakers?

Pretty decent job.  Getting all my limbs to work together on drums is tricky.  Since it's not your instrument, you do a fantastic job.

I agree whit the others. It has a Live character.
Creativity is to implement minimalist.
Excellent not more smile

Completely agree! Drums take time and they cause a lot of fatigue on the long run. As a producer's advice, you could get a pair of these pretty cheap second hand, specially in Europe. They do a decent job and let you experiment. Recording a drum set it's a really personal thing and not everybody needs the classical "70s luxury studio setup"...
