Scorch

By Coldsushi on June 28, 2026 6:32 pm

At first I thought (imma do something crazy bla bla for the half year, then I just made another track as usual, maybe better, less expectation, just consistency).

Back with the m8, not sure what genre this is, I throw 100bpm and said ok lets see, usually I gravitate around 150 cause I like the speed and it plays well with genres I'm more familiar with, but this time I went for something I'm not too familiar with, I think is the delirium from the heatwave (40 degrees, no ac, no fan), can't think straight I can only do things so Scorch came out.
There are some parts that I really like, I believe I'm getting better at leaving more space and pauses, sometimes not even filling the 8 tracks in a row cause it doesn't feel necessary. Also I'm still in this wave of piano I just love the sound of it, and can do everything from atmosphere to bass to lead, so versatile and is a great contrast to the more electronic sounds.

What do you think??

Render straight from the m8 heart

Instant favourite! (Not surprised)

This is kinda crazy in it's own way, and it feels quite a bit different from what you usually post. Maybe a large contributor to that is the lower tempo like you mention. It has one thing in common with the rest though, and that is the way it surprised me. Your tracks have a tendency to do that in a super satisfying way. 0:39 goes so hard! From this airy intro to this choppy harsh and groovy beat.

I feel like everything here has its place, counting the silences and absences of sound as well. Sometimes less really is more and you can get surprised how the vibe changes by just removing all or the majority of sounds for a short amount of time, soloing something out or just leaving silence. I think you've struck a good balance here but I think you could introduce even more, if only for challanging yourself to find "the limit" of where it starts to sound bad.

The piano for sure contrasts the rest of the sounds here. I was a bit hesitant at first but after a few listens I wouldn't want to have it removed or changed. It needs to be there just the way it is.

once again bro you surprised me !!! the story is amazing built and the glitch is superb!!!clean as F*** !!  well done

Excellent stuff. The sound design is top notch. And the rendering big and strong.

It's funny ain't it, how leaving silence is about the hardest thing to do in music. If you throw enough stuff at the wall you have plenty to hide behind. But when you're deliberately adding space, what ever is saying is becoming every more poignant. It's really start to say something. It's giving shape to the music. In a way it's much more revealing.  Where a big wall of sound is exactly that, a wall.

Anyways, good stuff. Very well done!

The ribbity sound is great, as is the distorted kick. I like the relaxed house-ish mood in the first half.

That beat is absolutely kicking. Such nice hi hats pushing it along.

Did not expect the dub steppy break down, surprised in a brilliant way.

And then that pad taking over over until the skittery beat comes in

WIN!

oh shiz, that basss breakdown at 0:30ish is such a good switchup. I was like "whoa, where is this going? where did all the piano go?? STEREO PANNING glitchy cruchiness???!!". So good! I'm definitely hearing your style in this, but it does feel like you're really pushing more on the contrast between the sections; also feels a little more unhinged in a good way smile. Excited to hear more of these experiments heart

Hope the weather gets cooler for you!
