Lots of different sounds than usual in this one, always trying to find a nice contrast between the hard part and the more mellow and mashing them together. I really need to start thinking more about pauses, they really give a lot more power to what comes next to them, also in terms of loudness when the audio level drops to zero and suddenly goes to 100% gives the impression of a way higher volume, doing it carefully can really pump more aggressive volume out. I prepared a couple of new neurobasses maybe I'll use them for next week! Altho I really want to focus on more future/hyper melodies which I'm finding a bit hard to achieve heart

Thank you for listening!!

Render straight from the m8 heart

The mix on this sounds fantastic, and its a really awesome arrangement, sounds, drops, everything sounding great. Your thinking about pauses and drops is on point - I think the prolific use of KIL00 commands here could make some fantastic secondary rhythms that add a glitchy element of unexpected anticipation and really elevate some of the big moments already in this track, there's so potential here!

Also: I relate to your M8-only approach for the year, but don't deny yourself - given time - the opportunity to mess around with these tracks in Ableton once your stems are rendered. It can be easier to visualize some of those drop out/impact moments that way, and simply being able to chop up and mangle your stems out of the M8 so freely is honestly a joy. The way the M8 "bakes in" reverb etc to the stems really lends them to this kind of post-m8 manipulation and a lot of unexpected surprises.

Yo thanks a lot for the honest feedback! I appreciate that a lot smile In general I feel I lack a bit on the rhythm side of things, I definitely need to focus on that and start to make more interesting base grooves, and the m8 allows for really cool sequencing of chops so maybe I'll try that next time!

Yeah totally! I might do a recap mid year and see which tracks I could push further either in the m8 or outside, is a good call! So far I'm enjoying using only the m8 for many reasons like staying away from the pc or the mixing aspect which I feel I do better when I'm way more limited instead of ableton with mastering, vsts, etc. But I'm also learning a lot and I'm sure going back to a DAW in the future is going to be pretty fun as you said!

Looking at your tracks I noticed u mentioned rmr discord, I might hop into that one as well! monthly challenges sounds fun smile Anyway thank you again for listening and giving feedback heart

Nice. Love the melodic ideas, love the variety. Sounds very fun, like you had a blast making it. I for one am all for aggressive volume!

Thank you! I try to keep it fun for myself, is not super easy to keep the flow going, sometimes I step away from the track at peak of productivity so that the next day is easier to get back to it, cause I already know what I want to change/improve, other times I keep banging on it when I'm a bit less inspired and is slightly hard to make changes, in that case I take more pauses in between to have a fresher listening heart

Dang I'm super impressed by how impactful you managed to make each sound. Those basses hit super hard. And the arps are really lush and crisp while staying smooth.
The contrasts are super nice.

Super glad it came out that way for you! I'm doing my best to have a somewhat clear mix and very powerful sounds, managing the high frequencies is not super easy so happy to hear they are smooth smile heart

Super cool, this would be a fun thing to VDJ!

Thank you >.< it means a lot!!

it's so rad how complete the hard moments fill my attention. i feel fear at their immensity. love that. this is is extremely rad. I'm lightly shocked it was on the m8!! that thing never ceases to amaze with what it's able to handle. Really just about the person using it.

Very glad you enjoyed it heart And it makes me feel better to hear the mix sounds right, is always a question of mine, thanks a lot!!

Superb track. I have noticed that you often seem a bit unsure if the mix sounds good on the tracks you post. I am in no way an expert but to me they always sound great. Keep doing what you're doing, it's great!

Thank you!! It definitely helps hearing other people opinions on it! Cause I'm always a bit unsure on how a mix translates into different systems smile Also one thing I'm battling with lately is how to get a really wide mix, panning more is helping so far but for some sounds is a bit harder, what I'm usually thinking is also that most of the time for me is not really about the mix but more about the production, thinking beforehand when to use a certain sound to get a wider impression, for example using a mono big sound and then right after that a super wide synth, these kind of decision I think can make the track sound wider rather than trying to fix it in post, if it makes any sense...

Phat beat! very enjoyable

Thanks a lot heart glad you enjoyed it smile

really good use of sounds and the progression of the track is really satisfying. only advice i could offer on this for mix is to give a bit of space for the kick and snare to cut through the bass with some sidechain because the get a bit squished in the mix when it gets heavy but i've never used an m8 so idk how viable that is haha. well done though I really enjoy your stuff as well smile

That's a good point! Thanks a lot for the feedback I always appreciate it smile I can definitely do that on the m8! I usually only do it on kick/bass, but since I make heavy use of the internal limiter and ott it makes perfect sense to use it also on the snare to make sure it comes out heart
