This works. I like the diversity of sounds you're using especially for the mid layers. The percussive elements sound like a Rube goldberg machine. Good job!
gorgeous!
thanks! an intention of mine for this year is to explore more nice-sounding music, so I'm glad it's coming across! I bought a reverb unit a few months ago, and I'm trying to give more "space" in my music. I'm also using an older ensoniq synth that I find has beautiful sounding old-school sounds for melodic lines...

thank you! I tend to go "mid heavy", so I'm trying to find space for different instruments by way of EQ'ing. I'm doing the whole mix on an older yamaha console and I quite like the EQ on it, for this track I had the polysix in the lower-mids, and the micro-q in the higher-mids, with different amp envelops. I think the "diversity of sounds" was just some filter manipulation.
for the percussive stuff, it was just a simple default percussion from an old casio that I resampled and cut up into two tracks with different with different lengths, so I had a bit of a polyrhythm happening. What I found that was neat and surprising was that different sounds in the drum mix could be emphasized as tweaked the gain, ratio and attack of the drum mix compressor... I was kinda pleased at the variety I squeezed out of it.
If I had more time, I would have re-recorded a cleaner version and edited it down to 3 minutes -- 5 minutes was way too long, hah
how are you making your music, you say one take. is it all modular synths? do you have a youtube channel?

It's hardware I've collected over the years, running through a 90's yamaha rmx800 mixing console, to reaper. It's sequenced by the NerdSeq eurorack module, which is pretty powerful! It's a tracker-style sequencer, and I use it to sequence both CV and midi tracks. The midi goes to drum machines and some older poly synths.
I don't have a youtube, but I've given it some thought! I'd like to share more experiments and jams, and I bet at least a few people would be interested in some of my weirder modules. It's a little daunting to get started. If you have any tips, please share!
