improv 5 — mushroom circles

By Coauctor on February 4, 2018 7:28 pm

Improvising for Weekly Beats. My self-imposed limitations:

• Digital piano as an input device (Yamaha P35)
• Moderately limited warm-up before the recording
• No edits after the recording is made
• Four VSTs for the year, one for each season

Winter VST: Mikro Prism by Native Instruments

Doing this to explore improvisation as a practice of being here and now.
My mental image: dancing sparkles above the circle of mushrooms.

Your mental image is accurate enough I would say and that ending was fantastic! Did you choose the image before your session or it's something that comes to your mind during improvisation?

Very interesting

NICE!!!

another great improv, your tones and philosophy impress me

Hey, thanks for compliments! Interesting question. Honestly, I have no mental image before a session. During a recording, I'm starting to feel something if I'm lucky.

For example, playfulness. I tried to explore this particular melody because usually, F Minor 7th chord and variations are eerie and sad for me. But this time I found out that it could be playful and bright.

After the recording was done, I listened to it and came up with the mental image.
