Cloudjumper - longing for a lost illusion

By Cloudjumper on January 19, 2014 11:22 pm

I made this track completely on my Push again to see how working with orchestra feels in Ableton and Push.
It became a very long progressive piece and I think it exactly right this way. It speaks about the patience and endurance of going trough repetitive renewal and the constant building of layers of conciousness and understanding.
But without the component of annoyance and instead with ever growing beauty.

I initially listened to this in background whilst writing and doing admin work for a blog. Something about the slow tempo caught my attention -- perhaps it was a nice contrast to the uptempo content I'd been listening to previously. Regardless, I had to restart this piece and listen attentively. And I loved it. The slow build of the layers. The 'thunder' rumble, bass viola, all work together. Also love the spatial positioning. +fav and can't wait to hear more!

Nice job, this is a real contrast to other pieces on this site. It was a bit repetitive for me though, such a long piece.. But I like all the little details of sound, that rattling was nice, felt like it was somehow inside my head.

Did you come up with that before composing, or after?

I did write a theme text before I started composing. And then I made an edit when I was done since it cam out a little different than I originally thought. Now I am curious why you ask! ^^  really glad you like the piece. To be honest it was my first attempt in orchestral composition. I'm glad it turned out so great.

I'll be sure to make more. the next piece might be completely  different tough since I want to practice versatility in the project. But if not here you can always check my soundcloud. Thank you so much for your kind words. It is comments like yours that keep me going. I'll make sure to pay it forward. Cheers! Cloudjumper
