Week 29

Goal at start 7/15:
Maintain focus on 4 bar segments. Try making more dramatic revisions once all the sound layers have been chosen.
Remember to stop at various points in the process and do a full assessment, specifically a genre assessment.
I also want to think more about the concept of chord progressions, and how there might be a more minimal  layer that anchors the chord progression, and other layers that are active but kind of sprout like branches from the more minimal layer.

End notes 7/16:
I’m starting to think maybe I keep ending up with these sort of clockwork music box type melodies by taking a more visual approach to programming them, as in, I’m looking at the squares in the piano role and trying things based too much on what I’m seeing and not enough on what I’m hearing. Next week I think I will close my eyes more when putting down notes. I need to move more toward shaping the melody mentally, and less just randomly filling in squares until something sounds good.
Also, I was assessing genre more as I was doing this, even though I knew I was pretty far off the mark. My target genre is still digicore/ambient plug.
I didn’t do as much with chord progressions as I thought I would.

Plan for next week:
Close my eyes more.
Repeat week 29 goals.

Not familiar with the genres mentioned, but your piece had a great atmosphere to it!
