Trash

By Chrisfoo on May 3, 2020 11:02 pm

Here's some trash for you.  It took way too long to come up with it for it to be speedtrash.

Sorry I missed last week.  I actually spent a long time working on something but threw it out because all my creativity and motivation have burned out from being stuck in the house all the GD time.  I dont know how you guys are still doing it.  Might try to do another full song next week and see if that works.

Man, I feel that. Honestly just throwing a bunch of nonsense through some wild effects racks week to week at the moment haha
Some great sounds in there though! Good work for still getting something uploaded.

Dude, this is a super sweet start off to the track.  Love the arps and and the higher register bass tones.  It's the kind of synthwave anthem vibe I really like. Sounds like it's really building up to 1 minute in where the bass will drop and get down to business smile My only critical point would be it's too short and is ready to bust through right as it's ending. I realize from your description that you purposely cut it short, but it may be worth revisiting.  Also, nice lead synth work. Always enjoy your comps and learn a lot!

Welcome back! I dunno lol, I just seem to be perfectly happy on my own. I'm really enjoying all the extra music time, and getting out to do some gardening seems to be enough for me to cope. You could try some challenges or speedruns to shake up your creativity, that always works for me. This isn't bad my any means though, I really like the synth melody. Good luck with the full song heart

not trash - really pretty!

No one can write 52 bangers brah. I agree with NWSPR, its cut short, but full of potential. Dont consider it trash, but more so a work in progress. You could totally build off this, or not. The idea is you're getting something done. I like hieme's suggestion too. Write a freakin reggae song to challenge yourself or just get out of a rut. Good shit Foo.

I'd probably drop the lead synth a couple of octaves and add a chorus, slowing it down might give it a bit of a prog rock feel, but I think this has great potential to keep out of the trash!

Yeah I missed my weekly dose of foo last week.  Interesting track from you.  I agree with the others: this has potential and shouldn't be put in the trash!

I've got to echo what other people are saying that there is some really great potential here.  Maybe it's not quite a complete work on its own, but it could be an intro or expanded a little and there's a lot to like.  It has a really nice upbeat feel to it.  I guess I'm lucky in that I'm considered an "essential" worker or something.  I've had to leave the house and go to work almost every day during this whole thing, so I really haven't had the cooped-up cabin fever thing I'm sure most people are feeling.  But I've definitely felt like I've been in a creative slump before.  One thing that sometimes works for me is trying something that seems completely out of my wheelhouse.  In 2018 I did a track that was nothing but percussion, which is something I'd never done before or since, as I'm not really a drummer.  But it was fun!

this is still sweet for speedtrash.  loving the sound of that wetter sounding bass synth, and you've got some catchy melodies in here

I really enjoyed this, even if it is speedtrash.

Imma join the group and agree this def aint trash!  The fade out actually made me feel like it would be a great interlude track or intro.  It's def impossible to release 52 bangers (unless your ipaghost) tongue  but seriously every week I go through the same thoughts and feels.  "Whyyyyyy"  "I suuuuuck" etc...  Sometimes it's best to take a break and then come back when inspiration comes outta nowhere.  Even if it doesn't and you worked on something, you're still being productive.  *jumps off soap box* smile

Treasure.

I like that bass, it's simple, but it knows what it is.

I agree with the above, this song's definitely got potential, I enjoyed it and wished it was longer! Forcing yourself to come with something is the hardest part of WB ... the past few weeks have been brutal.

Nice little interlude smile blends well between the last track and this one.
