5: Floral Glare

Tried to use more standard synthwave design philosophy for this - still working on figuring out how to make my songs sound less "default FLStudio" and I think this is a step in the right direction. Having the synth play a note constantly seems to give it a bit more of an undercurrent to help it feel less empty. There's some note changes that I like in here, and some that I don't, so I'll refer back to it to see if I can figure out why I feel the way I do about each.

Name is because some of the sections (very) vaguely remind me of a song off of Flora, an ambient Hiroshi Yoshimura album. (If you're going to take one thing from this description, listen to Flora. It's great.)

No idea what default FL sounds like but this sounds solid to me smile. I like the movement in the melody throughout this; very laid back ebb and flow that let's you sit in the shifting synth sound.

Definitely can relate to pushing synths to sound differently. I've been trying to figure out the same in my production.

Some of the chords remind me a bit of Angelo Badalamenti, very nice! If I could offer a little bit of constructive feedback, some delay/reverb can go a long way in helping fill out your space in the way I think you're trying to (especially if you're trying to make stuff more like synthwave), which gives you room to do more rhythmic stuff with your synths, which can spice things up. Keep at it!
