You Ain't the Bossa Novabody

By cfurrow on July 6, 2014 10:37 pm

I was inspired by a nice list of Brazilian tunes from Ableton's site: https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/unheard-brazil/
I then started diving deeper into Caetano Veloso and Os Mutantes' catalogs.

Anyway, I think I ended up sounding more like The High Llamas which is an old favorite of mine, anyway.

Cheers and thanks for listening.

Difinetely feeling some High Llamas here, and I should say some Flaming Lips and Tame Impala, if I may. Anyway, your soungs stands on his own without throwing any obvious references.

Is that a microBrute on the bass? Nice harmonies and mixing... I really get amazed about how do you manage to balance all those acoustic and electronic elements every week, without losing the "song" feeling.

Niiiiiice!!!

Dig the pun in the title.  Also I can see the High Llamas sound, but there's definitely a tropical feel to it as well.  I really like the synth line that kicks in around the middle.  Excellent sound quality on it.

Yes, you definitely win title of the week. Great song, great arrangement!

Coincidentally enough, this week we both somehow arrived at Brazillian-style Latin Jazzy grooves! With yours, I can get a sense of a summer ocean breeze in Rio!

lovely as a fresh breeze on hot summer days! I'm a fan of your vocal work ever since the first track. Perfect mood!

*laugh* great song title. Love the track, too, this is very well done.

gotta love the bossa nova smile  excellent guitar work and the bassline sounds awesome.

Thanks laguna! You're right, no need to mention the obvious references. smile That is indeed, a Microbrute on bass. I think I combined it with a bass sound from a Max for Cats synth, Ensemble. I've been enjoying his synths.
